I was gonna replace the ECM to the engine/sensors, was told that one is more important, since it sends the messages to the sensors that control the engine (including the turbo boost sensor you refered to), as well as the injectors, v-pod, egr, etc, etc. And, that harness is much cheaper, $260.oo, compared to the Firewall $860.oo, so I'll start with the cheaper option. And I'm DEFINITELY going to be stoping by Detroit in CT. My delta sensor is still active, last time I tried unplugging it, got a code and a check engine light on!!! I don't have the truck here with me now so can't look @ it, but now I think which sensor you're talking about... it is bolted right to the intake manifold, right??? Replaced it TWICE ALREADY!!! All that's missing to be replaced are the harness, EVERYTHING ELSE has been replaced, and most been replaced... TWICE! THANK YOU ALL GUYS

Jeff or Troy at Detroit are the best techs/mechs I've been around, if it was me, (and I know it isn't), I would hold off on spending any more money until they can look at it. They don't just throw parts at a problem, and they get lots of problem Detroits....(all those charter bus companies running through New England take their problems there), they will patiently examine the engine, the ecm data, and wiring looking for the real problem... they won't just tell you to get a new turbo or what not and then say, "well it must be something else..."

They have a lot of experience.

    Yes.

Mine gets sooted up and then the turbo boost gets erratic, that's when I know it's time to replace it. (it will be almost covered over with soot on the input, I've thought about trying to clean them, but for 35-40 bucks I just pop a new one in and continue on...)

Hey trees, what's up? I will take a look @ mine tomorrow, but not so sure if it'll be so bad, specially that I replaced it 5 months ago, and, have had the EGR DELETED/BYPASSED, so MINIMAL amount of soot going there now, and the engine did get A LOT BETTER "AFTER" having that done. As I've mentioned before, the problem with mine is really BELOW 1400rpm; I can't agree with what ANYBODY says that Detroits are like that, mine is really, really REALLY BAAAAAAD BELOW 1400... it does NOT PULL @ ALL, even when... EMPTY!!! Then @ EXACTLY 1400 it EXPLODES SO VIOLENTLY, SO ABRUPTLY that I MUST let go of the gas paddle, otherwise it'll reach redline @ a blink of an eye... IT IS VERY FRUSTRATING! My next spet will be to go see those guys @ Detroit you've just refered me to. Should I tell them YOU sent me to see them??? THANK YOU trees.

Also, like I've mentioned before, the ONLY TIME I noticed FANTASTIC change was when I first replaced the v-pod valve... it was UNBELIVEABLE, FANTASTIC; reason WHY I KNOW this engine can do better. BUT... it only lasted... 2 hrs, that's right, ONLY 2 HOURS!!! Shut it off, got loaded, when I started it again, knew right away it has gonne bad again, and it had! Replaced it again but, never the same. Had it tested @ freightliner and Detroit and was told it was working properly so just left it; can't just go replacing it everytime something goes wrong, they are $480,oo a piece!

Yeah, tell Pete and Gary, (the service managers), I recommended their shop. They know me by my truck, a Burgundy colored Western Star 4900EX with Cali tags, and as someone who used to live in Connecticut, Jeffery knows me pretty well, as does Troy....

It's an interesting problem you have, I've never heard of anything really like it....

It could be something to do with the drive by wire foot feed, or possibly in the ecm programming. (that will be expensive, I have experience with this)
