I drive a 07 Columbia. Radio has no sound, powers on and all the controls work, but no sound. Thought the radio was bad so I put a new one in. Same thing. I checked the driver door speaker and it doesn't look blown or anything. What are my other options?

Is it strictly am/fm radio or does it also have a CD player?
If it has a CD player, do you get sound with that playing?
If you get sound on CD, then it is most likely an antenna connection.
No sound typically means either you have a bad/disconnected antenna hookup OR a disconnect/break in the wires leading to the speakers (assuming the speakers are good).
Usually you will get at least "some" sound (static), at high volume with a disconnected/bad antenna connection.
Also, in general, always check your mute control, and fader/balance controls, whether they are a knob or (typically) on the display.
Unlikely that ALL (2 or 4) speakers go bad, unless you have only 1 speaker hooked up.
I would test your speakers by taking a 9v battery, attach test leads, and make contact with each pair of speaker wires at the (unplugged) connection that goes into the radio.
If you're not sure which are the speaker wires, hold off until you get a color coded wiring diagram. Typically most radios/speaker systems use a "standard" color coding system for speaker wires, but I can't say I'm sure about your 07 Columbia.
BTW, a speaker will never "look" blown. You can't determine that visually. -
CD doesn't give sound either. Haven't tried AUX, but chances are not good. Speakers usually have warning signs before they go out. Again nothing, just music one minute then nothing the next.

How many speakers are in your system?
It's unusual, to say the least, for both radios to not put out sound.
That's why I say, start at the source of the speaker wires (radio connection end), and test from there. A 9v battery will make them click, loudly, showing the connection path (wiring) is good and the speakers are working.
Or "pilfer/buy" a cheap generic speaker and connect it in place of your door speaker, and see if that works.Last edited: Oct 29, 2013

i agree. My friend just bought a 2008 Avalanche. The radio had no sound. He ended up replacing both front and rear speakers, and it works great now. I was sure that wasn't it, but I was wrong. So, check the speakers. -
Hi guys. I drive a 2017 frieghtliner. My driver side (door) speaker constantly goes off and on. I thought it was the radio but it turns out to be the Qualcomm. It’s actually the gps. Easy quick fix. For those of you still in a Qualcomm. Home screen, push arrow, (second home screen) settings, on settings screen push speaker tab, highlight DIU speaker push apply, it will ask you to reboot, yes . All speakers should work. Repeat every time the speakers go out. Be safe brothers!
