I'm going to look at this truck Sunday and been reading a lot about them and taking someone with me more experiencesmd with
the n14, but I would like some extra insight on what I need to watch out for. owner said he just had it in his shop for two weeks and only leaked a silver dollar size amount of oil and i do know it depends on where that leak is to be worried or not an i was
Actually the one rushed on the call so I didnt get to ask alot of what I wanted.

I know every motor has its things and im not familiar with these motors hardly at all...

That being said it was just repainted and has a fresh dot on it, everything looked clean besides the motor looked a little dirty but more like dry dirt rather than sludge build up and such. Filters looked fresh and could read the date of one from 8/13

All in all help lol please

Ive been around trucks most my life and been a driver for three years and want a pre egr motor that has already had the majors replaced etc.

    Anything will be helpful.

    Thank you

N14 is a good engine. Overhauled at a million. If done right, should last a long time.

I have heard N14 owners say they should have kept them instead of buying newer trucks,we have an 1994 N14 and it is a great engine. Set at 460 horse my boy gets 7 miles to the gallon out of it. My 3406C Cat gets 6MPG.. The N14 runs $9000 a year cheaper than my cat. I like them both.Oh my cat puts out a little over 600 Hp.As they say "If you want to play, you have to pay"

I love the N14. My old 99 Intl 9400 had a 525 Redtop N14 in front of a super 10. It would get 6.5 mpg grossing 79k+ over I-68 and 7+ mpg without even trying in less demanding driving. That's in a truck with no roof fairing or other aero aids pulling a dry van. Only thing I've ever seen that compares in mpg is a 12.7 series 60 Detroit.
