:Truck won't stay running when it's too hot to sleep? Here is a solution:
1) Buy a pack of chemical hand/boot warmers. Read the instructions: they take about 30 min of exposure to air before reaching maximum heat.
2) locate the Opti-Idle sensor: On late models it it near the 5th wheel on the driver's side. Look for a wire harness terminating in a nipple like plug.
3) Rubber band the warming pack arround the sensor and cover with a sock for insulation
This solution lasts for about 8 hours - Booyah!
If you can't find the sensor, ask a mechanic at any Frtlnr service center.

You just figured this out?
If you use a glove or some other smaller insulating clothing and wrap it around the hand warmer, it will last longer.
The thermometer on `09-11 Cascadias was at the very read of the tractor on the interior of the frame- looked like a long nipple with a flat end.
'12-'13 Cascadias had the thermometer moved, closer to the very rear axle hub assembly on the driver side.
Met at guy at FFE that would remove the sensor and jam a paper clip in there. It worked, dunno how, but it did. Wasn't willing to take the risk of destroying company equipment just to have AC, hand warmers worked fine for me. -

Not stupid at all. Some people think they know it all.

OP, I merely meant to point out that simply asking on your CB at a truck stop would've yielded this information.
I thought it was common knowledge that this was the easiest way to defeat opti-idle.
I you're running peoplenet, be careful because it will track your fuel level while idling regardless of whether or not your opti-idle.
Simple as that.
