Eaton fuller made many models of transmissions, how about a little more info if you want some help. The only RPM that all transmissions have is the vehicle speed sensor in the back of the transmission that reads output RPM. Depending the the year/make/model (which is a mystery), it could also drive your speedo and feed road speed info to the engine/trans. Auto's also have an input RPM sensor too.

So you're not going to get much help without telling people more info about your truck.

Back of the tranny should be road speed ......being as the truck is new , rpm should come from the computer to the gauge

Assuming that it is not an auto trans, the VSS is the only speed sensor in the transmission. Since you only have 1 sensor and it's only 2 wires, that sensor feeds the engine ECM, the engine ECM sends a signal to drive the speedo. Engine RPM also comes from the engine ECM to drive the tachometer. There are 2 sensors in the engine that will provide RPM signal to the ECM, the TRS and SRS (Crank and cam sensors). Check logged fault codes, if you see codes for missing TRS or SRS, you may have a sensor or wiring issue.

Replace the cam sensor now time to change out the crank sensor then check the for a bad wire

I would have thought checking the wiring would have been first...

    Cheaper than sensors...
