Started the truck up, fired off like normal. Drove it through the parking lot then it began to flutter like it was running out of fuel (but has plenty of fuel) then it died. Fish bowl fuel filter is dry? What might cause this? Showed no symptoms prior to this incident.
Thanks

A loose "bowl" may cause this. When did you replaced that filter?
-
Grab it firmly from the top and try to shake it, see if you feel anything. If nothing is loose, take it apart and inspect the O-ring on the cap and at the bottom of the bowl. Also check the seal on the bottom of the cartridge it self.

Did you use the proper tool to tighten it? I tried without once and had the same problem..... no matter what I did I couldn't get it tight enough. Bought the tool at freightliner for like 10 bucks

Well, I tried everything mentioned above, but still no luck unfortunately, thank you all for the 411. Changed the filter and o-ring seals last night, even put a plug in the drain spout at the bottom of the filter just in case air was getting in that way, ran the truck this morning for 60 miles, then checked the filter, it was empty of fuel again. Where could the fuel be going if it is not leaking out on the ground? Thanks again for any suggestions.

Stupid question but when you fill it and start the engine do you watch it and then top it up from the top again? On my columbia I would have to top it up 5-6 times usually.

Your Davco filter will not show fuel all the time when the filter is new. This filter system is designed to allow you to change it when the fuel reaches the line on the filter in the globe. It will slowly fill as the filter becomes dirty.

Fair question to me...
Fill it up to about half, it should go down gradually on it's own to min. level once the engine is running. As flow gets restricted, you'll see the fuel level inside the bubble rise again.ds1989 Thanks this. -
