Hey fellas. I recently bought an older 94 FLD single axle sleeper. Im gonna use it for car hauling a 4 car trailer and eventually a 5/6 car trailer. Now Ive been surveying the truck and stocking up on new parts that Ive identified as needing replaced. So far I have new air springs, shocks, cab bags, cab shocks, front shocks. What Ive seen thats left are a new steering box, both yokes, all belts, all hoses, oil change. dif oil change, tranny oil change, clutch adjustment, antifreeze and flush, 2 front steers.... Whew.... Any other suggestions? High miles, 900s.

Take a sample of oil that you drain out of eng. have it sampled before you spend more $ on a truck that needs eng. overhaul that will cost more than truck will be worth?
-
Totally agreed on oil sample and bearing change. Its got an 11.1 Detroit. If I find issues. Used engine versus overhaul inframe or part and scrap?

Pics soon...

Hold off scraping it until you get it on test run, the 11.1 will go on an on many mi.

Noted. I thought that about the s60 when I looked at it.I drove the thing back 300 miles. Lol it was on a wknd and I tossed the ring from under the right air spring and was losing pressure til I turned off the air to it. But it deadheaded with decent fuel mileage and I ran it 80-85 ciming home. It starts right up every time. I'll be curious to see the sample result.
baha Thanks this. -
No funny looking oil is antifreeze either.
