    Long story, short.

Had the truck parked for about 10 weeks.

Started it up, air building a lot slower than it used to.
Also, all of a sudden, at 130 psi, the purge valve kocks in and stays open till gauges show approximately 110 psi. Then the cycle repeats.

What is causing the purge valve to stay open and dump air out ???

Detroit 60, 12.7. Governer mounted on air dryer unit.

when purge valves and stays open have ya tapped on it to get it to close. sounds a malfunctioning purge valve, it can possibly replaced separately without the entire dryer being replaced. does it have a cartridge filter, if so that baby needs to be replaced on a regular basis

It's a Bendix with the cartridge on top and governer that bolts right to it.

Probably purge valve,I have a wabco that was doing the same thing. But mine was caused by road debris, hit a piece of metal dinged purge valve, cracked regen housing. If it's constantly cycling you can stop at hardware store and get some pipe fittings to bypass it until you can fix it

    Did you fix it ?

Have exactly the same problem but on Volvo with Bendix AD-9 air dryer..

it purges at 125 psi , purge valve slowly leaking to 120 psi ( can see it on gauges ) and cycles again :(

Do you know what could it be ?

    Thank you!
