I have seen some used equipment for sale on ebay, mostly laptops loaded with diagnostic software and cables to connect to the truck. Also data link, Snap-On code readers, some tablets with software, but because they are many different brands, I am not sure which one is the best to buy. So my question is, what hardware and software is best to buy, for diagnostic of Detroit Diesel Ser 60, DDEC III, IV, V. What the professionals use for this job?
Where to buy DDEC V diagnostic tools?

What I have learned, I need a laptop loaded with DDDL 6.5, DDCT and DRS, then maybe some kind of interface to physically connect the laptop to the truck. Any suggestions?

I bought DDDL 8 directly from access Freightliner's website. It includes old versions so you can work on your model.
First you have to sign on to get a Single Sign-on I.D. Then there is a link for diagnostics which will take you to the Snap-on Nexiq page where you can purchase and download DDDL for $500.00 plus another $700.00 for the adapter.Verdel Thanks this. -

$500 is one time or one year subscription ? did you get updates from DD server when laptop is connected to internet ? the program device or parameter change feature's are working ?
Verdel Thanks this.
