Thanks Gadfly,
Yes I am well aware of the Frequencies, as a Galaxy Radio owner for 8 years I respect the Hammys.

I decided on the K40 top load. It did best at getting my SWRs where I am happy. at 0.8. All other antennas were 1.9 - 2.5
Thanks for the help gang. -
The reason I'm asking is I have always had really "good luck" with K40 antennas . I have installed dozens of them and they usually tune well for me. I'm known around my area for bein' one of those wierd CB guys . So, when the "normal" folks want to talk they bring their stuff by the house for tips , tuning & education! LOL -
What upgrades do you recomend having done when purchasing one of these new? I've read that some? things need to be adjusted. thanks..

Also, although not required, a good noise cancelling mic (RK56 or Astatic 636L) is good choice on this notoriuosly "loud' radio. The stock mic will work and is clear, but it is very sensitive to ambient noise (piezo mic element) and therefore more likely to give you feedback (squeel) problems when transmitting with talkback.
firstgear Thanks this. -

Not wanting to be a party pooper but is it even possible to get a swr better than 1.0 to 1 think that is ideal and not actually possible in real life, certain of that .9?
BTShepp Thanks this. -
Yep 1.0:1 is the lowest you can get an SWR.
BTShepp Thanks this. -
what is an illegal radio by the way if you op in the cb band and are no more than a 4 watt dead key by the way its not an illegal radio. you cna buy a radio with sb & ssb that is not an export radio that equals more than 40 channels. And the fining thing thats just one more way to get money out of people for no good reason. just because some people are unsmart enough to put it in a nice way to not pay to use an out of date form of communication dose not mean you ahve to get peaved at people who dont. I dont have to use ham bands 10 meter is unpopular anyway. and I dont want to listen to the crying about it. If the fcc is so hard about illegal radios why are there so many out there. oh thats right they make money off it. IF YOUR NOT A SPOIL SPORT YOU DON"T BRING IT UP.

The radio will have a FCC ID number showing it is part 95 certified on a ID tag it is does it's legal.
As for 10 meters it is closed right now as soon as the MFU gets above 28 mhz it will be in use again .....KD5AXG and rabbiporkchop Thank this.
