Can someone tell me how to do a parked regen on this truck? My shop sent me directions, but I don't feel they are correct. I have a solid upside down triangle and a warn engine* on dash. Called them back when regen instructions didn't work, idle speed never increased, and they are telling me to go to a dealer 40 miles in the wrong direction. Would really rather do the regen and hit the road.
I have the Cummings engine, not the maxxforce.

There should be instructions on the back of the sun visor. On there you will find what all the lights/symbols mean on the dash and what level of regen is needed. If all you have right now is the triangle and engine warn, there is something wrong with the engine.
-
The only thing on the visor is the meaning of the warning lights and what to do, not how to do it. Sigh...
-
Engine running and up to temp. Set parking brake. Cruise off. Press the Parked Regen button. If the engine needs it, it will start. If you press the button and the light just flashes that means something is inhibiting the regen. This could be anything from it simply doesn't need one, to an engine fault. If your triangle is on only, and none of the DPF lights, this means there is an active fault with the engine. It doesn't mean you need a regen. Trying do a regen will not clear it out either.

Think I can drive with this light on, and get it serviced in about 800 miles?
-
Depends on what is wrong with it and how long the light has been on.
-
Check your coolant level, check your oil, watch your temps, if all there is ok you will be fine for the 800m. Code could be anything. Most are ok to drive for a day or two. You don't have the driver display screen in the right dash panel do you?
-
No. I have a display led screen at the bottom of my gauge cluster. Says warn engine*.
-
Too bad, that other screen lets you see the fault code and we could give you better information on what is going on. Since today is a holiday, nobody is open anyway. Might as well drive it.
-
Standard problem with that system...go ahead and run the 800 then go in to service. They are probably going to have to do a manual (forced) regen from a plug in lap top. Your EGR is probably bad, or needs tweaking....
If you find you have an obvious loss of power, you will need to get it done ASAP....otherwise, get the job done at your original place after the 800.
