    Hi guys,

Can't get our International Prostar 9400 I automatic to start. Hubby was driving and it stopped shifting and had to pull over. It will not start. When we put the key in the ignition, all lights come on everything except for the shift tower and it won't turn over to start or even attempt too...

After hours of poking around, my dad noticed that the circuit breaker blew out and it happened to be the F13 B for shift tower which makes sense. Went t our local Int'l dealer and they don't have it in stock because its a special order. Ordered it and didn't give up there. I have been all over Milwaukee/Chicago area and no one sells a 10 am 24 volt manual resettable breaker.

So, I get this bright idea to go look at all the breakers and find one that isn't so relevant which is also a 10 amp and 24 volt like the dome light breaker and I swap them out and guess what...still NOTHING:(

Now the hubby is freaking out that once we get the new F13 breaker that it still won't work. Do I have a bigger on my hands? I have tried google and called about 5 different mechanics and everyone tells me that electrical stuff is a pain in the #####.

Does anyone have any ideas as to what can be going on here??

    Thanks guys!!

Please help!! New circuit breaker is popping out the second the key is in the ignition..

Battery cables look solid and are all connected. No light on gearbox still.

Starting to think that its either the outlet for breaker gone bad or I got a transmission issue..

Any ideas or comments are greatly
    appreciated..

Check all the wires you have a short see if they are rubbing on something and see if you can pull shift pad out and see wires if rubbed on anything if the fuse goes that fast its a dead short should not be that hard to find move wires away from walls tell it don't pop then look for short

Prostar and 9400I are two different trucks. I am guessing you have a 9400I. International makes wiring changes all the time, so it is very important that you know the build date of the truck. This is located in the drivers door pillar, it is white sticker with black ink. This sticker has the vehicle identification number on it. The date of manufacture will be printed on it too. I have looked through a couple of wire diagrams and found that possible 10 amp breaker is the main ignition feed to the shift selector and the gear display in the switch panel. Either the wire itself has rubbed through somewhere in the dash, or the shift selector, or the display has an internal short. Since the breaker is popping right away, you can test what is causing the short. Open up the dash so you can disconnect the shifter and the gear display one at a time. Each time you disconnect something, reset the breaker and turn the key on. If the breaker does not pop after something got disconnected, then that component is the problem. If you have both the shifter and the display disconnected and the breaker is still popping, then the power wire between the breaker and the components is rubbed through on something metal somewhere in the dash.
