Looking at a 2010 lonestar with a maxxforce 15. Anyone use these motors? I haul 140,000. Do they pull decent?
Most of what I read seems to be about the 13 and not the 15.
maxxforce 15 any good?

I'd stay away from anything max force... Had nothing but problems with them in the winter. Check engine light basically never stayed out in trucks that had both motors.

Early Maxxforce 15s had a lot of recalls and I guess you would call them teething problems. Used prices on trucks with the Maxxforce motor seem to be lower because of it. If you have other choices I would look at them.

They stopped making the maxxforce 15 because they had used up their emissions credits and it wasn't even close to meeting the 2010 emissions standards.
The maxxforce 13 was close to meeting the standard, so they soldiered on paying fees until 2013, but they just couldn't quite get it there so they consulted with cummins, modified it for SCR & def, & changed the name to n13. -
maxxforce 15 is their crappy version of CAT C-15.

I ended up buying a 08 pete with a c15 that totally does not have a delete on it.

Same way with me. Hoped it was a 6nz but turns out to be a mbn.
