Find somebody with laptop loaded with Cummins insite, to pull out all the codes, if not take the truck to Dyno, it will show many problems if any or hire a good truck mechanic to check the truck for you.

What are the rears on it?

Ratio is 3.58

Check fuel mileage on ecm. It generally reads about 0.5 mpg higher than actual. Good fuel mileage 7+, indicates a careful driver, lighter loads, not a lot of hill climbing. Basically an easier life on the truck. IMO. I would rather buy a truck with 800,000 easy miles than 500,000 hard ones. Suspension, bushings, hangers, etc... can also tell the tale. On the Cummins it may be worth a few bucks to pull the cover and look over the cams, lifters, bearings, etc... you'll want to do it shortly after buying anyways. Might as well do it beforehand so you know what you got.

Thanks .my mistake it's a 2006 with Cummins 450 HP he mentioned 15L

450 would be a Family 1 engine, where their "sweet spot" is supposed to be around 1400 RPMs.. with 3.58s, presumably a .74 OD transmission, and perhaps 295/75R22.5s, you'd be looking at 62.7 MPH at those RPMs. If you were looking to cruise faster than that, might be better to find a truck with 3.36s.
