I am just curious roughly back in 85 -86 JB Hunt and their drivers were the most picked on company out there.
I know they had their own CB channel (if they even turned them on). Not to mention the abuse the drivers had to take when backing up in a truck stop.
I always felt bad for the JB Hunt drivers because i had no more experience then they did, but i wasn't in a JB truck -Man did they get abused.
My question is, what changes did they make to get the target off their back ? Or did other large companies step in to take the abuse. It sure seemed like JB was in line to be the largest trucking CO. out there (Maybe they are and i just dont know this) but i just dont see a whole lot mentioned about JB Hunt on this site or at least the activity about JB is minimal --did Companies like Swift take JB's place - it sure seems to be the Company most mentioned on here.
JB Hunt - no longer the whipping post ?

Prime gets it now with there 57 mph trucks swift gets it backing at truck stops lol

Throughout the years many companies fell well below or are at JB Hunt's status in the trucking world. Companies like Werner, CRST, CR England and some others share less-than-stellar reputations for how they treat drivers. I'd take JB Hunt over these.

I thought that Swift might get it, just from what i have been reading on this site (no disrespect to the Swift drivers) - but was there something that JB Hunt changed in that 25 yr ish time span that took the pressure off -like better pay - more experience before hiring drivers - or did they just become better at backing up ? so does Swift have their own CB channel now LOL ?

I quit JB in 92 and came to Prime since you never heard anything bad about them, other than they went too fast... Now what?

How do tell when a JB Hunt driver is screwing your wife?
Because when you get home he's still trying to back the truck out of the driveway. -
JB Hunt has or had the best management in otr trucking . They looked into the future and saw what was coming. Long haul cross country trucking is dying. Very few people will ship frieght on truck across the country any more . It will be way more economical to ship by train or ship. Do you guys not see the ad on tv " 1 gallon of diesel and 100 trailers being shipped via train"?. JB HUNT HAS THE LARGEST INTERMODAL FLEET IN THE COUNTRY. All other trucking companies are struggling to catch up. Next time you see a train count all the companies that have trailers on the train. (2) Private fleets are a dying trend . JB HUNT, Ryder , Mclanes, Penske, Black horse carriers,NFI and temp agencies are making private fleets redundant. MOST RECENTLY "grocery thrower" on this sister site trucking boards ; saw a JB HUNT truck delivering food to a restaurant with a lift gate hand a hand truck . JB Hunt has one of the most adept management in trucking bar none. the reason drivers no longer F!!! with JB Hunt drivers is they are the number 1 trucking company in the land. PLEASE NOTE ! I am not employed by JB HUNT ! Most of the past ten years i have spent my time as a driver for red soda.

So they did make a sideways move somewhat i guess you would say into intermodal freight transport.
I figured they had to do something major to get a pass from other drivers or it would have shown up here on the forums. Thanks !
