I'm running intermodal out of Chicago on the Wisconsin dedicated account.
Been doing it now for almost 3 weeks. Run like hell until your 14 hours is up, you do what you can in those 14, they've always got more for you. Always have a preplan as soon as you set an eta or during your break.
Out of those 3 weeks, only two loads have been live loads. The rest were drop and hook.

How often do you get to be home on regional..I thought my run was regional but they told me its a loop..im suppose to be home on weekends but not always the case.
-
Well, I've got 5 days on and...well, you only really get one full day off.
I get Wed. and Thursdays "off", so I get home on Tuesday usually in the afternoon, then set my eta for Thursday. Usually around noon. You get 48 hours maximum, though it probably depends on which fleet manager you get which will give you more leeway.
Works out good for me to go at noon since it's just enough to pick up a load in Wisconsin and get down to the TA in Zion. You work your four full days, then get a load going home on Tuesday, so my fifth day actually ends up being pretty good.
I prefer working through the weekends since it's less traffic, plus that's 3 nights where the truck stops aren't as packed. -
When i was I regoinal I got home pretty often because I wouldnt play around with the load. You will get ur forward haul then backhaul and if u can make it back to atlanta, u can head home for the night and come on back in the morning...... They have different schedules on the regoinal side but I ran monday thru friday was off saturday and sunday. Sometimes I would work that saturday and I would be finished by saturday night and have sunday off and jus set my eta to whatever time I was comin back to work monday. Intermodal will run u hard brother if u dont like to run hard you'll hate intermodal cus in opinion regoinal works much harder than local. I ran a loop for a while and I can tell from first hand experience with both that intermodal has been more enjoyable. I got transferred in no time, if u want to jus holler at Tyler.

Thanks..gonna call him today

Couldn't get a hold to Tyler, but talked to Jerry Wednesday and he said as soon as my FM releases me i'll be intermodal..I asked my FM when he was gonna release me and he says sometime in Aug..wtf..I asked why and he said to give them time to fill my position. Sounds like a bunch of croc to me.. was hoping to start Monday after my weekend off. Does it usually take that long for them to release you?

We're already nearing mid July so if it's early August that's reasonable if it's late August that seems like they're screwing around with you a bit. -
Where do you deliver to in Wisconsin, I live in Monroe and have been called numerous times by JB Hunt to apply for this acct? I have never done Intermodal but have been to the rail yard in Chicago when i worked with USA Truck.. Any info you can give me would be appreciated -
Rumor is that he passed away on the Golf course in Bella Vista from falling off the ball washer.
