Fri when I was heading down the road my dash lights just went out along with all but my headlights turn signals still work and brake lights still work but no tail lights on tractor or trailer first thing I checked was my plug in cord it wasn't that I can hear the relay click when they do come on for a split second then they go right back off the marker light fuse gets very hot I also replaced the marker light relay the lights on the hood by the doors do not come on at all does anyone have any idea how to solve this problem?

you got a dead short, had that exact thing happen, it was a short on one of the side lights on a utility flatbed

Could be a dead short. Could also be a bad ground. My '99 W9 relay got so hot it caused the plastic tabs that hold the wires to the back of the really to fall out inside the fuse box. My solution was to take the dash lights off that circuit (wired them to a separate switch), then switch to all LED lights on truck and trailer (they pull way less amperage). Then I took the fuse box out, took it apart, and re-wired to one of the spare relay spots. No more heat issues since.
I think it has a lot to do with the age of the truck/wiring. Connections corrode over time and wires get brittle. -
Did you ever find locate were the dead short was? Im having the same problem on my 96 t600. I know i have it in the cab just dont have a idea were to start looking.
