Hello guys. I'm looking at buying a 2006 kw w900 that originally had a cummins ISX and the engine blew so they found a cummins N14 and rebuilt it and put in the truck. There's only one problem. They can't get the odometer to read the mileage. All the odometer shows is dashes. Anyone know how to fix this or anyone that can fix this? I would like to know what I'm getting into here before I buy the truck
2006 kenworth w900 odometer won't read after rebuilt cummins N14

The ECM has the mileage in it and tells the odometer. Am sure your N 14 is not using the same ECM open it up to see if there are any options there, when I changed ECM s I had to do some adjustments to the settings. I have a 9400 with ISX when I changed batteries for winter the ECM was shorted and would not repower back up so I bought one from a salvage yard, now you'll be busy but would really like to know how that engine swap works out for you, got 1.3 mill
and is time for a in frame, but always am looking for better ideas, have not really had problems with my ISX, but can see how a N 14 is more user friendly

It means you're going back to the future . . . . .

The odometer won't work til your over the engine break in period, cause those miles don't count.

Someone also told me that it may have to go to a cummins shop and let cummins flash the ECM and program it to work... Not sure, just trying to find out all I can

An independent shop with a Cummins mechanic plugged into the system, with a laptop. The speed was at 62, so they changed that as well as the gear ratio, and adjusted for tire size , someone needs to open up the program to see why the odometer is not communicating with the ECM those dashes may be a default setting? Mine did read the mileage of the replacement ECM, but they were for the same engine. don't see how it can read correctly unless it is adjusted to its new home, Ask those guys online, they helped me troubleshoot mine and the price was right

Slap a hubometer on the drive axle and hammer down. Can't beat an n-14!
