I have an opportunity to drive for Knight Transportation and I need some more details and mire accurate information about them especially from a driver's point-of-view. Like home-time? Pay? Equipment?Overall quality of the staff? I understand everyone has a different opinion and experience. I just want to get a better idea.

They are not Central Dispatch. Each terminal can and usually do vary greatly. I suggest you list which terminal you will be working out of and perhaps you might get feedback on that specific terminal.

The Charlotte terminal.

Oh man... How has your experience with them been?

Every terminal is different as stated by others... but the deal seems to be about the same.
So anyways,
Pay- Decent for starting out. You should make in the $40k range if you run full-time, in my case 18/3 is normal. 33 cents/mile 2300 miles per week plus incentive pay and small bonus. One week paid vacation after a year.
Benefits- Crappy insurance. They do have a 401k program, I'm not enrolled. Benefits aren't something that matters to me all that much.
Training- Good. They will teach you how to drive a truck even if you got shafted by a 12-hour wonder driving school.
Runs- A lot of northeast and Minnesota where I'm at. Gets better over time. The territory isn't easy but you'll learn how to drive in all conditions.
Dispatch- Good when everyone is on the same page. Terrible when no one is on the same page. This improves as you build a relationship with your dispatcher. Having a good attitude even when you are upset is key. Never assume people know things they should know and never assume you know everything you should know- I make it habit to speak to dispatch at least once every couple days to verify what I'm doing whether I need to or not.
Hometime- Hit and miss, more hit than miss but if you have to be somewhere try to get off a day earlier to be safe.
APUs- No, but there is bunk heat and its HOT.
What I really like is that I'm treated like a person- not a unit number and they really do want you to succeed as long as you work hard. Knight is one of the smallest mega-carriers and they operate like a franchise so you'll get to know the drivers and dispatch at your terminal pretty well.
All in all, I'm content. -
