Okay, I received a pre-hire from Knight to attend their Squire training outside of Memphis, Tn. I live in South Florida and was told that I would be working out of the Lakeland, Fl. terminal. I'll probably wait till after Christmas and then go. Any info on the Lakeland terminal? Is it good, bad? I've read so many negative things about Fontana, I'm hoping Lakeland is better. Oh ya, thanks to all of you who have posted so much info on this site. I have been all over this site for info in making decisions. Thanks especially to you seasoned drivers, you have my respect for what you do.

Sorry fellow Floridian. Pre-Hire a fancy word being used now by companies recruiting heavy and needing drivers. If your still in Orientation on day 3. Good chance you are actually hired. By no means to bring you down. Just honest. Because of cost to research you and your past etc..... they really don't do that till your in their Orientation then they spend their money and check you out while your getting Drug Test and Physical done on day 1 or 2. Cause that there alone eliminates at least 25% people in Orientation. And as you will see with these replies Knight worst of the worst right now for some reason. Go under this website search and type Knight and see their threads. You need to try other starter companies you will see be recommended on future comments after me. There are tons out there. Don't worry about them getting you home. They will tell you at beginning if they don't hire out of Florida. I know Stevens transport out of Dallas has a good training program and has loads to and from Florida. Heyl Trucking is from Florida and decent but don't know if they train. Plenty better ones out there to try. You will see comments on who's decent. GL

I just completed orientation at Knights Lakeland terminal. It is a brand new facility. They have only been in it a couple of months. Everyone was nice. I had a chance to talk to a lot of the drivers in and out, and most seemed satisfied. I went through school with CRST and was told I had signed on to the evil empire with Darth Vader at the helm. Actually, I did well at CRST and I suspect Knight is going to be a lot like that. They are just big companies. I found out at CRST that it was what I made it.

Knight Lakeland is decent. No problem getting loads in or out of Central Florida. I worked out of Lakeland for 11 months and grossed 44k. My experience was far better than all the Western drivers that cry on here all the time. I came in with 1yr exp. That school training Knight has now is new so I have nothing to offer on that.

Hey thanks for the responses. I have looked at a lot of different companies that offer training for inexperienced people like me. Knight seemed to have the majority of what I am looking for as a new hire. I realize I'm not hired until... well, until I'm hired. Nothing in my background, clean MVR for at least 25 years. A woman doing a CCW background from a sheriff's office remarked that my background is "disgustingly clean". Her exact words. So I think once I get up there, as long as they are still hiring from this area, I won't have any problems getting the green light. I realize I am just starting and I expect to pay my dues.
