well lucky for me i live close to mn and nd i'm only a 100 mi from sioux falls sd. and i watch the ls broker board all the time they seem to have some loads in my area. as for staying out once i get out that is not a problem. hopefully ls will accept my app. and i can get out and start trying to make money again. thats getting harder to do where i'm at. they think a 1.24 per mile is a good load. I'm tierd of argueing with my office about it! Lucky for me my t/t payments are very modest. Other wise i wouldn't eat.

can anyone tell me how long on average it takes them to process an app?
i have a clean record.

Took about 2 months to get all of my employment verification done. Small companies, self employed and one company out of business doesn't make it easy.

I think Gazoo is looking at about 2 or 3 weeks.

You could fill out your ap at home and fax it to them too. There is no requirement to go by their office in Rockford before hand. Thats probably where you'll go for your orientation.

A#1 Reason I went with them...I WANT TO BE ON MY OWN>>>PERIOD!!
I have enuf brain juice to run my business successfully and profitably.....and I only have 3 months O/O experience.

I think from start to finish it will be about 3 weeks.

Hopefully my goody box will be waiting at my moms in Florida when I get there tomorrow, (short Vacation and had them send my stuff there) then it is off to JawJa for Orientation on the 13th.

i have a clean record.

Don't get the Broker board confused with the BCO load board. They have different loads posted. historically the Broker board has much cheaper rates and heavier loads.
But if you are in a bind and happen to be in the right spot at the right time you can get a great load from the broker board. Also it beats deadheading.

I surived off the broker board for nearly 2.75 months waiting to get into LS.

It took me over three months to get in. I've only been driving for 19 months now. 7 months as an O/O.

They had to check all my references, employment verification, I had to get my Haxmat, Truck inspected, Drug test, physical and so on.

I have a clean driving record, no tickets and no accidents. No Felonies and I've had security checks for teaching and the Marine Corp.

When I got to orientation I met drivers who have had the same job and lived in the same house for over ten years, get cleared in two weeks.

So each individual is different and it's hard to say until they start asking you for what they need for you specifically.

You'll be on your own, but help is just a call away if you need it. And if you stay compliant, you won't hardly hear from them.

I filled out the App. and then sent them references and anything extra that I could think of.

I still had to Fax an ocassional paper here or there. It's easy to fax from the road if you have it with you. Otherwise have the S/O send it or Fax it.

Run Step of Flat and you won't see and frieght as low as $1.25, unless it's a LTL and you can add as many of those as you have room for.

If you don't have Step or Flat experience you can take a Securement class. It's two days and gives you the option to pull Step, Flat or Van.

For instance, I can drop my Step somewhere and haul a power only Van load and then work my way back to my trailer. Without the Securement class you don't have that option.

Anywho, good furtune to you driver.

bad time to come

freight is slow unless you have a quick dial finger you can't get high dollar loads, you get hooked up with a good agent(truck broker) and another agent cuts their rate and brokers out the freight.if you don't care where you go or when you get home or how long you may sit. go get you some of landstar(truck brokers). been there 3rd and last time this time 1.5 years grossed 130000 this year will be 20000 less next year by the way it's looking.good luck and you pay for every thing also.2% off 100% 67%of 98% pulling there trailer,75% pulling yours

what kind of trailer do you pull?
what areas did you mainly run?
How often did you want to go home and for how long did you wanna stay there?

flat bed, home weekly. southeast midwest 1-2 days at home, flat bed has slowed down and van freight sucks, now if you were to get all of the 1.50 per mile and up it would be ok, but you don't .guys that have worked with agents(brokers) for a long time and greased their hands do ok. most of the high dollar freight thats being hauled you will never see on the computer.you'll be better off getting you're own authority and start you're own deal, at least you can haul for anyone who brokers freight. if you think you can make it hauling off landstar loadboard its going to be tough
