No.....all carry the previous 8 days rolling and can be faxed on demand. What I don't get is he doesn't need a person to do this....it's on the console.......what? it's broke? not lit up? He was supposed to stop immediately and use his back up paper log......
No sympathy here, sorry. Bottom line is carriers suck, they will put you out with the trash in a New York minute. Drivers need to own that, 100%. You're a driver and it's your fault, even if you're on your 34....... is what it is.

I believe this will be under the Map 21 plans for the future. It maybe a year or two, but I wouldn't be surprised if it weren't sooner. How can the government keep up with people if truckers have free reign and go where and when they please.
This is one pamphlet of the mandates for studies to be done by certain dates by FMSCA, page 20.

I haven't found where yet, perhaps it was struck down because of companies having to invest money in putting in the EOBR's.Last edited: Feb 6, 2014

EOBR is coming to every truck, its not if but when....also not too far behind the trucks will communicate with each other. I heard on the news its already being proposed for cars/light trucks.

I read the article about all vehicles being to electronically communicate with each other and the computers will prevent wrecks, of course it's under the clever yet misguided guise of safety and preventing accidents saving lives. The truth is it's part of the surveillance grid to track your every movement and likely to tax every mile you drive regardless what you're driving. They're already there with the technology it's just a matter of phasing it in all new vehicles. If people in this country allow it to happen, which I'd be shocked if they didn't (no-one seems to care that government snoops and sticks it's nose everywhere these days) then it's just one more piece of the puzzle. As far as eobr in every truck is concerned that is already a done deal. The only reason they haven't implemented it yet is because congress didn't fund the mandate. They could stick a rider in pretty much any bill at any time and fund it then it's reality. Or maybe caesar obama will dictate an executive order bypassing the legislature to fund it ha! Google it. It only needs funding it's already law.

BeN DaViS and RedForeman Thank this. -
Again, I don't doubt that someday EOBR's will be mandated but........as of yet, I haven't seen any legislation that mandates it, just speculation and federal government studies. So, if someone can produce the actual piece of legislation please post it for everyone to read so we can talk about fact versus speculation. Don't tell me and everyone else what has been done but rather post a link for all to see.

Ok here it is. The law was passed in 2012. http://eobr.com/ Looks like mandatory EOBR's will be reality in late '16 or early '17.
