Does anyone know how long is the process of terminating a lease contract with Landstar? I am a Landstar BCO and I found something better, but I am nervous to have a long break between jobs... bills don't stop coming! I heard it can take 2 weeks or so... Thanks!

the better question is, what is the timeline for the new company. When i left LS I dropped off their trailer on a Friday and was at orientation for the next company that Monday. After termination you cant run their plates or use their insurance. They gave me a 2 day grace period at my request to get the truck to the next company. You will get final checks in the mail after returning everything including qualcome. The way they bill is odd. You will get a few detention checks and esrow refunds a month after you quit. Ive been with another carrier for 3 months and i just got a check for .19 cents. I got another for 340 for detention they just finished settling. Money may not be instant, but you can quit instantly. You can even over lap if you want to, just dont haul anything for the new company untill you terminate with LS.
scottied67 and camionagiu Thank this. -
Just call you BCO adviser and they will take care of you.
camionagiu Thanks this. -
I would suggest getting your own base plates. You then can get temporary bobtail insurance.

Go to the other orientation sign on and work a few weeks to see if you like it. If you like it cancel Landstar lease but if you don't then just continue on with Landstar like you never left. Landstar doesn't have to know everything.
Zay727 Thanks this.
