And then people sign on and realize it was all a dream and their getting $1.85 on the average for van freight. If you want to get a sense of the real world rates you need access to a friends BCO account and do some practice trips on paper. People tend to boast about this rate and that but what they don't tell you is that they ended up in El Paso, TX and got $.80 a mile on their next load. Many Landstar drivers also tend to boast about getting $3.00 a mile but what they tend to leave out is that they only get 65% of that rate or $1.95 to them and not the $3.00

Still a better rate than you would get in a fleece purchase deal.

Definitely. I just see it way to often. It's like pulling teeth when you ask them how much per mile they got. Well, I got 67% of 95%. But instead of saying I'm getting $1.90 per mile they say $3.00 like we are suppose to know they are leased onto Landstar and should know this.

I use to have a friend leased to Landstar and had his username and password to the BCO load board so I was able to compare rates. The thing that really got to me is they have the ability to show the BCO what their rate will be but they don't. They post Landstar's rate and make the BCO go through all the math. Everyone's percentage is different depending on the age of their contract, their trailer or Landstar's and if there's an FSC. This can all be put into the carriers profile so when they look at loads it would show their real rate per mile.

Ya think? I had one of their BCOs telling me what a frickin' good deal he had... $1.31 per mile net before taxes. No thanks...

I suppose it didn't help that he was doing 70 mph all the time.
