I'M hoping to go to the schnieder choice program in January or February 2015. I have read many threads on different forums about this program. I wish I could sign up today !

I was with sni back in the 90's. Made good money but seeing what they hire now under their "new management" makes me sick. I wouldnt lease a goat to them now. Theyve become a pitiful species of a trucking company. Pure theives.

Don took good care of us and everyone else. Sounds like since he retired they become bottom feeders. Sad, very sad...

If you feel the need to drive as an O/O add in fuel, tires, brakes, plates, fuel taxes, hut, repaires, etc... I've noticed the closure of OC's and that means the end of any savings on the previous. Is that a good sign?

I understand all the overhead and added responsibilities as an O/O. I was an O/O and eventually worked my way up to 5 trucks back in the 90's and early 2000's. A bad divorce and being left to raise 2 kids in diapers by myself forced me to sell everything. So here I am again starting from scratch. I have the knowledge of my successes and failures from before. I will do things much different this time and capitalize on the things I did right the first time. I will say it is very hard to get back into rucking after being gone for so long. My previous experience does not exist in the eyes of carriers I have talked to. I have been told many times that I would not remember how to drive and should go back to school. I only have found 2 carriers that would hire me. So here I go again, start at the bottom and work my way back to the top. Sorry for the long post and wondering off topic. There is just a great feeling and sense of freedom when you own your own truck.

Bro I did the same thing. Go thru school, put up with all their bs and move on. Go to a tak/chemical co. close to you and get on with it. DO NOT buy a truck right now.

I know this is late but I would like to know what came out of the lawsuit you had against them? It seems as the 2 posts that you had it was the companies fault that you could not make any money.

Well I sure wish I could believe at least one line of your post TheWitchDr. I have been leased on with Schneider on the Choice program for 3 years now and the only problem I have had is the long hold times. They have taken care of that now and holding more than 5 or 10 minutes is rare. As far as the charges on missed loads go you are either lying or they applied different rules to you. I have had break downs and had to deliver my load late and while it is true that they can charge you $500 if they have to recover your load I have NEVER been charged money for any future load that I had to cancel due to that break down. In fact I have never been charged the $500 for load recovery because they worked with me and set it up so I could deliver my load as soon as I was rolling again. The people I have dealt with have NEVER been rude even in the few instances I was being rude to them. They will not cuss at you and have always been professional. I wish I could understand why you paid for your own fuel since they give you this magical thing called a fuel card. The fuel period runs a week at a time and comes right out of your settlement. Until recently I was home every weekend and even after paying for my new truck I could still bring home at least $800 to $1000 on my worst week. The only negative settlements I have had were due to me taking time off. I am now running some kind of load almost every day of the week but I am getting home almost every night and bringing home $1800 to $2200 a week! My lowest mileage average for the week was still better than their mileage program and my highest average was $2.05 all miles for the week. I'm sure I will get some kind of heat for this reply but this is the most far fetched post I have seen in a long time! I have never and will never bleed orange but I just couldn't sit back and see this kind of garbage posted like this. If anyone is thinking about Schneider I would tell them that if you are willing to read your lease, understand the program and do the work that any GOOD owner op should be doing anyway you will succeed. You will make good money and be home as much as you want. You will deal with good people that in spite of the company truck appearance are safety conscious and willing to help you with whatever they can in order to help you get the job done... Within reason of course. I am willing to bet that your supposed lawsuit gets squashed by the way...
