I've had drivers try to "help" sometimes. I just stop a sit there until I can see each and every one of the morons. I'm afraid I'll run one of them over and then I'll be really screwed. I don't mind an extra set of eyes on my blind side, but when the spotter is on the blind side, in a blind spot, it does NO GOOD! :biggrin_25513:

One way to get exercise in; check in at Kroger in Atlanta. Park 1/2 mile away and walk to guard shack. Walk back to truck and wait.
Drive in and back in door. Walk to warehouse check in, told it's $55 unload and they won't start without it . Walk back to truck, get check, walk to pay for unload, walk back. Get call for bills ready, another round trip walking.
Im a bit tired. Truck driver appreciation week is evident here.

The Publix in Lakeland fl is so much more truck friendly it's staggering. It's not often I get to go back into FL two days in a row, but with frost warnings overnight at home, I'll take some southern heat.

Hello. Hi. Good afternoon. How are you? Hey. What's up? What ya got ?
There are a great many ways to make a quick intro to get communication going with anyone. It take nearly zero effort, and almost no time.
When I check in at a shipper, I don't get that very often. I get treated as less than human.
    No intro, no intercommunion.

    Me: Hi, I'm here to...
nameless hater of humanity: pickup number
me: uh. (Insert numbers here )
    nameless: name
    me: Dave
    nameless: cell number
    me: (insert cell here)
    nameless: trailer number.
    Me : 133763
    short pause.
    Nameless: door six
me : okay, thank you. You said door six right?
    Nameless: ....
a blank stare was my acknowledgement to my inquiry.
It makes me want to say, with a big genuine smile, : eff you, and to your wonderful family as well.
This kind of encounter is the definition of thankless job.

I shook my head when I looked at the title of the thread below mine at the time. "Take over my swift lease"
re-translate it to "I got in over my head and need a way out"

most people laugh at the notion. I feel a bit of pity for the person fooled by the big numbers thrown at them with nearly zero experience.
Thats why it pays to read the fine print, too.
$610 a week for the truck rental alone.,
my fixed cost total is less than their truck payment alone.
    Sad.

I'm just ranting today! Is there a need to go 25mph in the TA parking lot? That's how we as drivers get a bad rep.

Sitting at a T/A in Wilmington CT and I am watching these people fly around the parking lot. They will see someone backing into a spot and they try to go around them and then we have to run wide open so everyone can hear them wind their truck out. Hey look at me I am running wide open through the parking lot. Now when I get out on the road I will run extra slow so I can account for the fuel I burnt running wide open in the truck lot.

    Exactly.
Or they sit and complain there aren't enough miles to pay bills, and refuse loads left and right because they don't go east and don't go west of Denver and it's too hot in Tx and too cold in mn . Lol.

Another brokered load to a grocery warehouse , another lumper fee and a long wait to deal with .
i think this is the first time since starting that I have had 3 heavy loads in a row , and tomorrow I get carpet back to Michigan.
Wonder if I can race up to Traverse city to sit in on an NHL Detroit red wings training camp session. That's be sweet.
Although, I'm not into horror movies , I'm a huge Kevin Smith fan, and in support of him, I plan to go see his effed up new movie Tusk.
Its about a guy that turns another guy into a walrus.

Spent an hour tonight helping a new driver at the yard back into a tight spot to drop. Took this long because I went in grab some universal keys to move a couple of connected trucks out of the way.
I knew why they stayed connected. They were reserving the empty while on hometime. But the fact is, our yard isn't huge. And a hooked truck will make it near impossible to back in , let alone just turn.

Thats the only real complaint I have about them, the drop yard is in dire need of organizing.
Im really pleased with what the new GM is doing here. Liking many of the changes. ( although I disagree with political campaign ads being put on our trailers.)

the guy that was talking to me about teaming is in jail because of a pile of back child support. Sucks because he just had a new baby born last week while he was in training, only to come home to find he had a warrant out.
On the bright side, he finished his training with Central/swift. On the down, he will probably be fired if he doesn't get this sorted out by Monday. ( jail must suck)
they dont eff around with that "friend" of the court .
    (I don't think it's a friend , do you?)
