Seems I had a target on my truck this afternoon. I was traveling south on I-65 25 miles north of TN, my favorite state, but not for the DOT. I saw the DOT in his vehicle sitting on the shoulder of the on ramp. After I, and many other trucks passed by, I saw him getting on the hwy, through my pass mirror. I than saw a Red Magnum and figured it was the Magnum he was going after. You see, I didn't realize it was a DOT until after he pulled me over. I got a Level 3 inspection, have no idea why he chose me to pull over. I had RR ties on but he didn't weigh me so,,not sure what it was. Either way, I got nothing out of it, except my time wasted.. That being said, I did get my load delivered on time, barely!

Picked up a Cat CP433 Padfoot compactor today, out of Chattanooga, TN and brought it to Memphis, TN for delivery. Will actually deliver it tomorrow morning. I also set up a load heading to Beaumont, TX with some crane parts out of Memphis, TN This will keep me busy all weekend, well most of it anyway..

Great Read and Great Job SheepDog.

So you grew up in Grand Rapids too . I moved to Florida from there 30 years ago but i still have 5 brothers and sisters that live up there and also 3 good lifetime friends from High School. I graduated from Forest Hills Northern but lived around the Burton and Breton area until i was 12 and than moved to Forest Hills.

If I do this trucking gig i realize I will have to move out of SW Florida and most likely back to GR. How is it getting loads in and out of there ?

Sorry for the Hijack . Keep us posted on what your up to, very informative and entertaining.

I was raised in Reed City, MI which is north of Big Rapids, until I reached 3rd grade. We than moved to Ypisilanti and all over the place,,,dad was a trucker. Ended up back in Reed City for 8th grade, boy was that weird,,,,seeing people I felt I knew. lol I left Reed City when I was 19, and headed, via a trucker, to TX After about 18 months or so, moved back to MI with my now wife, who is from the Sand Lake area of MI. We left MI again, for job reasons, in 1994 but, just down to Mishawaks, IN Lived there for 5.5 years than finally got transferred to my favorite state of all,,,,,Tennessee. I feel like that is where I want to be but, family brings us back to MI,,,,Sand Lake area and I have been looking for property there but, MI is a socialist state and I don't think I can live there, unless I find a County or township that agree's with my way of thinking.

I am familiar with Reed City as 1 of my good friends parents had a cottage up at Bills Lake when I was a teenager

my Ex-wife who lives down here in Florida still owns a house up in Luther and the taxes she pays for that place out in the middle of no where is what her and i pay for both of our houses combined for our property taxes here in A very upscale city in SW Florida.

    Its Michigan the Welfare state

I might live and run out of Michigan but Florida will be my home state forever , cheap property taxes and no state taxes .

So what is your reasoning for calling it the socialist state ?

It is a Socialist state because it has County's, City's and Townships. The Townships make the rules, and those rules are socialist like, how big your house has to be, (minimum), and on and on... just pull up a township in whatever county and read the zoning regulations for that township, they are all close,,,,at least the one's I have read. When I lived in TN, you could live in a dog house for crying out loud but, in MI you live in what they tell you and how they tell you, or you get fined. They tell you how many dog/cats you can have, what you can do with YOUR land, how many stories your house can have, how many cars you can have, and on and on and on... I want to live free and TN, FL and/or TX are the most free states I know of,,,,that I like the landscape of.

Unfortunately, I agree, and am stuck here. I like Missouri, Florida, and Tennessee, myself. Texas is on the verge of a water shortage problem. Only problem I see with Missouri, is that they've just adopted a Monsanto-led amendment to the state constitution. That can't be good for small farmers, in any measure. I don't hate my country, but I hate what it's becoming; and I hate those who are trying to undermine liberty, while the populous allows for it.

Been trying to upload my 2014 Business Report but, doesn't seem to be working for some reason...such is life for me these days.

I was extremely happy this morning, when I found a load out of Red River Army Depot hauling a piece of Military equipment from TX to NC Even though I couldn't pick it up until tomorrow, I was still happy. It is one of my goals to haul Military equipment but, finding who to talk to, to get the loads has been difficult at best. Well, all went to hell in a hand basket just minutes before I parked within one 2 miles of Red River. Seems the brokerage I called; Celtic International LLC, has a contract which the company I am leased to will not sign. Why these brokerage's do this, I do not know but, would any of you ever sign a contract that states you can not go after said brokerage if they do not pay you, or its shipping/receiving customers? I sure wouldn't! My company states they will gladly sign if the contract will simply have a clause that states; "Contract null and void if brokerage company goes under". Something like that anyway.... If I was a broker, I would never tell a carrier that they could not come after me, or my business partners, if I did not pay them... I know many companies do this so they can work long enough to get money and than run... BS in my opinion...

Now I am sitting here in Hooks, TX hoping to find another load tomorrow, after taking most of today off. Maybe the numbers I was given by a fellow trucker will pan out as well. He stated to me that he lives just 80 miles from here and always pull's freight out of Red River Army Depot. He gave me the number and name of two people that he uses to get said freight. I will call them in the AM
