Hey guys,
I'm thinking about leasing on with Trans Am out of Olathe, KS. I've heard and read mixed reviews about them. Some say they're doing well with them, but others heavily warm about going with them. I've been doing my own research and planning how to make this work.
As a lease operator with the company I'm with now has told me, "If you run the truck like a business, you'll do fine. If you run it like a paycheck, you'll go broke."

Wife and I did a lot more investigation. I think we're going to pass on them. They're getting plenty of bad press, especially from a former driver manager who posted his complaints over at indeed.com. The fact that many of the complaints detail specific incidents should tell me to steer clear from them (no pun intended). Yes, there are a few who say they're doing well. But the lack of consistency and the general consensus of the complaints tells us that it's not that important to go over to them and face the prospect of losing our shirts in the long run.

When I was first out of trucking school, I like a lot of newbies went to talk to the Trans Am folks. They had a good relationship with Fort School Community College. I visited the home office and looked at their equipment. Now you have to remember, I have been accused on this website of being out of contact with the everyday people. Anyway, I thought that a lease purchase would be a good way for me, a person with absolutely no idea what I was doing, to go. At the time the only way they were hiring new drivers was if they signed a lease. I heard a bell start ringing in my head. I had not heard that bell since Vietnam.
So, I asked for a copy of the lease so I could take it to my attorney and have him look it over. They told me their leases were their property and that I could sign it or not but it did not leave the office. #### that bell got louder and louder.
They then started using all the hard sell tactics of a door to door vacuum salesmen. I decided to sign but that bell was so loud that I had a headache and had to leave before I could.
I am sure that had I stayed long enough to sign that lease that today I would not be in trucking at all. So I say, sign with Trans Am and then find a new job. -
they have an average of 9 abandoned trucks on any given day
when i started there they had 1100 trucks 3 years ago
still have 1100 trucks
train 40-50 newbies per week

I leased with transam in 2010, when they had paper logs. Dispatcher ran me very well. Yet still not much money at all. Really bad shape
that their trailers are in, really just a company that thrives on coning new truckdrivers. I strongly suggest staying away. -
They have some good commercials on Sirius satellite radio. APU, fridges, inverters, automatics and ankle bracelets. Sound's like a win win to me.
