fuel prices are now going down yes.

Point is these guys are leasing brand new expensive trucks... their payments are very high.. that plus insurance, taxes, fuel, maintenance etc! There's no way you're left with much when you're starting out with $1.29

this site used to be a real good info site now just a bunch of cry babies that should'nt be trucking lol I have been driving for 6 years 2 with Celadon 3 months as L/P havent brought home less than $725 after taxes most $1263 i have a lone star love it great truck one thing all of you seem to forget is all of these companies that hire students or train them with in a school are going to have a high turn over because on average a 20 yr old thinks he has a dream job until they get out here and relize what it really is like out here or what being away from loved ones is like so your going to have alot of turn over a lot then you got new guys plus & some what experianced drivers with less than 2 yrs on the road thinking they can run a trucking business lol again epic fail roped in by new trucks home time when they want but no money or bus. skills result turn over and then they fish on these sites for people with the same results and bad mouth a company. as a l/p with celadon its a 100% walk away lease you can go back to compay driver if you do jack things up to bad as a l/p bumper to bumper war. truck payment on rolling miles only go home for a week only pay the extras qual com insurance ex. hit 180,000 miles there about you paid off the truck get a good acountant that knows about laws for trucking listen to the business advisers they have you should do fine

Yikes even the most would be awful, I'm leasing a truck. Not lease purchase but I am just renting.
I also did a lot of research and have no bills at home, I have done all the numbers even on a slow week 1500 bring home is VERY doable. my company is a 28 driver place and about half are leasing and half company, broker frieght at 79% NO forced dispatch. My point is there are good lease deals, from my homework most of the mega carriers offer the same thing, for the most part. Aim for a smaller company that has a good lease deal. I'm renting the truck as a tool to make more money so this time next year I'll have enough saved up to put down on my dream truck and LEASE ON to my company.
It comes down to the driver, is he/she happy making 700+ a week but also paying off there truck? If yes, then good for them. I can't stress anyone wanting to do a lease to DO HOMEWORK!!!

Have you driven it in snow yet? I drove a single-screw ProStar for a week last winter while mine was in the shop and it did NOT do well, even in a small amount of snow. In fact, it got stuck in an inch of fresh snow in our own flat parking lot, so my experience with them is not good.

This is the best advice in this whole lease, lease/purchase, "flease" business. Individuals can do what they want to do; if they've done their homework, success or failure is up to them, not those of us writing about it on TTR.

no they don't.. all they have here is if you want to BUY one of their cheap freightshakers with 500000 miles and lease onto them with it.

It's $48,000 and they give you a 2 year extended warranty.

O/O pays rates here are :

    • 1 - 150 Miles, $1.55 Rate
    • 151 - 250 Miles, $1.35 Rate
    • 251 - 700 Miles, $1.10 Rate
    • 701 - 1,200 Miles, $1.04 Rate
    • 1,201+ Miles, $0.94 Rate
    • Deadhead Miles, $0.86 Rates plus fuel

that's nothing I'd ever be interested in.

I'd never lease on as O/O or flease Operator for some BS mileage pay.
Personally I'd only do it on % pay

Mileage pay benefits the company, not the driver.
Even as a company driver I should not be paid the same per mile doing a short load in the Northeast during winter as a long load on I-10 in the Winter. It's all a scam man.
