I don't want to harp on this to much so it doesn't get old, but I'll recap my day one more time for you guys maybe some of you might find this interesting others of you probably not so much, although I think you might like this.
So today I got to the yard, clocked in at 6:00am and waited till almost 9:00am to get my truck. 550 cases 14 bay side loader 18 skids 1 keg all for 24 stops.
I go out to the yard and see my truck in a line with many other trucks sitting in the dark. One of the yard jockeys said your in trailer 680, but we might switch that trailer out with some other trailer.
Oh yes that happens now and then one minute they want you in a 16 then next minute they have switched you into a 14. Personally 14s are my favorite a lot of guys don't like them because they are hard to back, but they corner well and for where I go it's the best. I just go very slow when I back one up and so far so good.
Any how today I got to work the pressure cooker was on although actually my day to today didn't have any real timed stops so that part made things a lot better. I have one private club that likes to get there Coors Light 24 pack flats around 10-11ish, but that wasn't going to happen, oh well for them. Actually I didn't lose much if any time out on the road. I set a realistic goal for my self and that goal was be in the truck heading in back to the yard by sundown and it worked. Plus the neighborhood I run in, isn't the kind of place you want to be hanging out in during the night time, so hence the be heading out of town by sundown part. I told a driver that I met today who works for the Miller Lite distributor here in town how I was at the gas station on West 25th street at quarter to 7:00pm last night delivering. He said "That's no place to be out after sun down. People are hungry out in that neighborhood."
Any how I got back to the yard around 5:30ish. I was the only truck when I pulled in the garage so I could get my trailer stripped out. When I got in I jokingly said "Don't worry everyone I'm here!" The man who is incharge of the garage looked down and muttered "We still got half the fleet, out." I went "Oh?"
Any how I got my trailer stripped out and parked my truck and went to do my paper work.
As I was doing my paper work one of our other drivers came in and I said to him how was your day today? He said "I despite getting out way late with 60 kegs ended up finishing at my normal time. However I got back late because I had to go bail Andre out."
I said "I left and Andre was still getting loaded." They sent two 18 bays to one town and the one guy was way heavy and didn't leave the yard till like probably 9:15am-9:30amish.
He said "He's back, now, but he was behind and he wasn't going to be able to dig himself out."
I said well "Mike and Chris both of them are still out in Wayne and Medina county, Mike had 40+ kegs for 27 stops and didn't get out of the warehouse till geeze almost 8:30am actually I think it was a little later and he has an hour drive out of town to his first stop."
That's the other thing kids sometimes you don't get sent to the city like me, sometimes you get sent out to the country in an 18 and your an hour from the terminal and really your pretty much your own entity out there in Gods Country. It's pitch black in the winter time you can't see your hand in front of your face. Luckily the guys who run out there have been on those routes for sometime each and know there routes, but that could be disheartening if you are a swing driver.
Any how what else did I see, oh yeah a truck that left before me was on its way in while I was in my car pulling out of the parking lot going home. It can be a real fun time during the hollidays. I don't know if it's just the company I work for and I'm leaning more towards that, then anything else, because the Budweiser Drivers don't put in the hours we do. Although today I almost fell over I was on my way home almost home and at 7:00pm at night I saw a Budweiser side loader getting onto I-90 heading back to there terminal. Usually there company has a curfew and wants those guys back by 6:00pm, but not today I guess.
Anyhow I applied to work for city government this week, will see what happens.

Budweiser doesn't get out of my way either we have to clear the way for them as well! Budweiser's the Sysco of the beer business.

How is the budwieser guy able to dictate things?
Refresh my memory and correct me if i'm wrong. Budweiser does not have a fleet, Beer distributors decal the equipment up. Does Budweiser pay the distributors to advertise their brand and have priority over others ?
I only know of the way Pennsylvania works. It's all distribution ( Wholesalers / sub contractors ) who deliver the beer
