Sorry for not posting for awhile. I had to turn my air card off to save on expenses. Things are a bit tight.

I would say that truck driving is a 4 based on what I thought it would be.

It is much harder physically...flatbedding...It is more frustrating....You are more rushed....and after almost two months, it is just a job.

Now mind you I did over 6 months or research into this. So nothing that you read can prepare you for the real thing.

Also, it is hard to work into the schedule to get a shower every two days.
    Thank goodness for baby wipes!:biggrin_2551:

I was a block away from picking up a load friday evening in Steelton PA.
Made a turn and started hearing air leaking out of my dash. Got out and the red line to my trailer was leaking under the metal spring that is supposed to protect it. So I had to call the customer and I lost that load.
I was going to be heading home for a 34 hour restart.
So I waited an hour and it finally got fixed. I Headed to Ashland Ky, spent the night at the flying j and got first in line at 5:30 for my 6 am appointment. I got it loaded, secured, tarped in record time for me and headed for home. I got here around noon and have to deliver in detroit at noon tomorrow.
So I do not get my restart, but I did get home.:biggrin_25520:

Jim; at the end of the/your "day/night/drive > however you want to put it"; do you like it, would you do it all over again, will you stay in it for the long haul?

If you dont mind the ?s; how many miles are you averaging a/wk? average wk/bring home "no need to be specific; and if you dont want to answer that one I understand; not trying to get into your personal info just trying to get an idea; please accept my apology if you feel I stepped into your space on that one.

God Bless and may God protect your path always; that also goes out to each and everyone of you.

    Azeron Thanks this.

Not a problem with the questions. Last week I had 2300+ miles and I cleared over 700+

I do enjoy it but if I could go back to a job being home every night, I would take it in a heartbeat.

I would do it again because it was the only option open to me.

I need to go because for some reason my water heater is not working and I need to figure it out before I leave in the morning.
I will post again next weekend if I get home.

    God Bless!

    Jim

Have had this water heater for 7 years now. Elements were good. no sediment in the tank. Hit the reset button and it took off. I have no idea why it tripped. Will just have to watch it.:biggrin_25516:

Great decision. Keep us informed as to your progress. Once at orientation, it's not rocket science, more like common sense as to what to do, how to behave. Basicallly, eye's and ears open, mouth shut unless you have legitimate question(s). Classroom participation is strongly encouraged. As you've probably read, some have issues about Mavericks hiring/firing practices. As for why some people were let go from the orientation program, I was not there when they were let go so only they can tell you why they were sent home if they care to share and tell the real story with all the gory details which seem to always be left out of their explanations.

The only person I've ever seen let go was when i was in class with the orientation students to become a Driver Trainer (Driving Instructor as i've explained before as to my preference of this title) Yes, myself and others hoping to become driving instructors were in the week long orientation class and were subject to following the same rules as the new hires. Maverick tells you first day, right at the beginning of class, if you have a cell phone with you, to turn it off or on silent so you dont disrupt(disrespect) the class should your cell phone ring during one of the classes. One student not only left his cell phone on, but answered it in the middle of class, got up and left the class to talk on the phone with his previous employer to find out when they were going to send him his last paycheck......"Here's your sign." , and your bus ticket.
