thanks for ur reply and info...but i think $700 weekly is very low ....i can work in mcdonald flipping burger and make the same and sleep in my bed every night..hehehhe..jk,,,but thats the fact.....

 

Yes, the average was gross pay.

That is with 1 week of $357.16, a week of $418.75 and a week of $400.00 which do not look like they will recur with his new truck.

His high weeks were $1,081.68 and $1,194.00. This week's gross pay is $1,138.86 (mileage pay went up to 42 cpm) which pushes the average to $734.65. With the new truck, the lowest pay has been $671.24 and the highest so far is $1,194.00 but that has been only over 4 weeks and with his mileage rate having gone up this week, it will be higher pay on his lowest mileage and highest mileage.

This is how I figured the average from his actual weekly gross pays:

Fuel bonuses are figured on a quarterly basis and based on miles run in the previous quarter which is why I did not use them in figuring the weekly average. If you use the fuel bonuses in the calculation, I come up with a weekly average of $757.01. Again, should not be typical with this new truck and the new mileage rate. The average for just the new truck is $958.25.

Remember, he has only been with Maverick since late August 2011 and got onto mileage pay when he picked up his first truck on October 13, 2011 so he is a pretty new trucker.

 

While I agree its on the low side,you can make more but to say you can make that at McDonalds I think is a huge stretch. That would be almost $20/hr on a 40hr week and Ive not seen any McD's payin anything close to that. Good luck tryin though.

 

Pegasus when hubby gets some time in maybe you guys give IC a try. Checks are a lot better here if he's good at managin his time and fuel mpg For example Im only goin to have two runs in this week due to weekend training so I was home empty. Im going to profit over $700 on about 1300mi. My average week is in the neighborhood of $1200-1400 and still be home weekends.

 

Downside though is no health insurance

 

Which would not be the best for him because he has to see the doctor somewhat regularly for his blood pressure and cholesterol pills and he has to get his eyes examined every so often because he wears glasses. I, on the other hand, have my own medical insurance through Windsor Medicare Extra Diamond program that is very good because of my multiple medical issues.

 

I dont know how people out there are making it on low wages. I know it depends what part of country your in. youd #### if you saw what we make up in the northeast.


oh and for the people who say they can make more flipping burgers, that aint happening and most who say that have never worked in fast food before.

You also pay more for everything in the northeast hence the higher wages.

 

My husband and I lived in the DC area (me from August 27, 1990 until October 15, 1994) him from about 5 years prior to me until the same date as I left. I was making 21,000 per year for the first 5 months, then 15,000 or so for the last 4 years, hubby was making about the same (we were not together for the first 3 years, I was with someone else making less than my now hubby was making) and we managed to make it even with my having had a child on June 7, 1993. I just had made the choice of living in the cheapest residences (while still being safe) I could find and hubby moved in with me after we started dating because my residence was about $600 less per month than his was.
