Have my pre hire from both Prime and Roehl and getting my DOT physical Monday. Would love to hear opinions which is the best to drive for.

I have heard many good things about Maverick. They pay their drivers pretty well, and some of their drivers that I've talked to have told me that Maverick treats them very well. The only thing I didn't like about them is their automatic trucks.
Chinatown Thanks this. -
Prime tanker division experience would set you up for some big paychecks in the future with a good tanker/hazmat company. I think Prime does food grade tanker, but it's still tanker experience.
Melton Truck Lines has a small terminal in Ohio; good flatbed company, good benefits, APU's, and they do hire new CDL grads.
So see, you have some real good options. Best wishes. -
Don't think Prime will let him in tanker with no OTR. I would go with Prime out of those choices. In fact I am waiting to hear back from them to go tanker myself.
Chinatown Thanks this. -
I worked for 2 outta 3 maverick and rohel.it all depends on what it is you wanna do.. van flatbed or tanker. for flatbed I would say maverick their training in the barn and otr will have you ready to secure and haul any load( coils, steel bar, etc)
there trucks are automatics but they run anyway from 62-70 mph depending on your fuel mileage. they will start you off at .33 per mile and a raise every 3 months til you hit a yr then you make .42 or .43 per mile. home most week ends not all and for 34hr majority of the times. good company but very strict when it comes down to load securement. Roehl is a good company as well, slower trucks 62mph but overall good they have a your choice pay plan so every quarter your pay goes up if your doing good youll get more home time with Roehl then maverick if that a big concern for u I don't know what the starting pay is but it more then most company that pay .26-.28 pm for students. and for prime like stated before there tanker will have you set in the long term but man your gonna be driving 57mph everywhere loljxu417 Thanks this. -
I have heard good things about Prime and Roehl. Both seem to have good equipment, and from posts on here from their drivers, they seem happy. I personally KNOW that Maverick is an outstanding company, and Harbinger is right, Maverick treats drivers exceptionally well. Our trucks are Auto-Shifters, you can drive in auto, OR you can shift manually (which most do). APU's in our trucks and very roomy and comfortable after a tough day, also our trucks will go up to 68mph-which you will not find in the other companies listed- not that you should drive that fast all the time, but if ever needed- you have it if you need it. You live in a very good area for our freight lanes too, so weekends home will not be a problem. And Chinatown mentioned Melton, they seem to be a good outfit as well. Pretty Blue KW's.

Looking out my window @ 70, I seem to get the same view as 55. I'll take the fuel savings and enjoy it in my pocket.
jxu417 Thanks this. -
I personally drive at 58mph....btw.....average mpg's 7.5

How does the fuel bonus work? Roehl includes a .01 fuel bonus in the .34cpm and it is paid quarterly from what I have heard.
-
before I left I know they were getting rid of the fuel bonus but instead giving the driver a .01 cent bouns for being accident free. so for example if your starting pay is .34 after I think 30 days of being accident free youll earn .35 per mile instead of .34
