Well I head to the Rock this weekend for my Orientation on Sunday. I will start out in the TCD then after a few switch over to Glass or Flatbed. I'm excited

If you are motivated and put forth 110% effort all the time, you will do great here with Maverick. If that were not true, I would not still be here with them.

Blind Dog, Rigbuilder and sbarber7973 Thank this.

True and if you don't mind making $700-$800/week (which is not likely in winter season) after %110 and about 80+hrs a week. If that's good to you then Maverick is not bad. But after looking at it and seeing its less than min wage I found a local flatbed job after 2 months with maverick. Its just why?

I'm only making 27k a year where I'm at now. Maverick said I'd make about 40k my first year. Or is that wrong?

I'd say $35-$40k is about right. Depends on many factors. Flatbed freight is slow in winter. Also how fast you work tarp and get back on the road. How fast shippers and receivers load and unload you.

Yeah I try to work hard and get things done right. Either way it sounds like if still make more at Maverick than what I'm making now

You will average a little over $40K in your first year- mainly because your first few weeks (or couple of MONTHS for SOME) it takes a little to get the hang of it and then it starts to click. You learn how to use your time in the most useful ways concerning your e-logs and once you get the hang of that, constantly bust your rearend off, learn the places we go into and out of (their hours, practices i.e.- will they load/unload you early) ect ect, then by your second year and with pay increases you will be over $50K maybe even closer to $60K per year. You WILL NOT MAKE A KILLING in your first several weeks/months if you are brand new to this so do not expect that. Learn the ropes and do what I said earlier, and you can make very good money. Some may just expect to make that huge dollars in their first month, and those guys are seriously misled or over-expectant. There is ALOT to learn out here and until you have some real experience with what we do, you will be working to get to that point. For some it comes very quickly, for some..... not so much evidently.

Thanks Jxu417. It's greatly appreciated. I getting really excited about it all. When you're out on the road do you really get to see the country or is that a misconception?
