After 2 years of driving I left schneider National in 12/2013 for greener pastures. I decided to take a break from driving and finish my time in the National Guard which ends this month. I was starting to get burnt out driving and doing the guard. I narrowed my choices to Maverick or Roehl. I have TWIC, HAZMAT, and Tanker. Everything was going good with my application with Maverick until the recruiter told me that since I've been out of work three months I needed a notarized letter from somebody who is not a family member stating that I was unemployed. I'm from new york but I moved to san antonio texas a few years ago. I have no family here. I know people but I don't know them well enough to let them know my business like that. I feel that I shouldn't have to do all of that for only three months. I can understand if it was for a year.
I'm not ranting or hating on Maverick. I'm just posting this to let anyone know who wants to apply to Maverick they might have to do this if they been unemployed. The exact words from the recruiter when he emailed me the form was "it must be done by someone who is not a family member and then signed in front of a notary public and notarized". I don't understand why I can't just make out the note myself and get it notarized. I understand the company is trying to cover themselves, but if I did this the person I asked to make the note wouldn't have known that I was unemployed for three months until I told them that moment! And how would they know I wasn't lying?
So I applied to Roehl for their Van Texas Fleet. I talked to the recruiter for almost an hour (wow), and he gave me his cell phone number too. Either he is really nice or trying to pull the wool over my eyes. lol
Unemployment letter?

only thing i could suggest is try and have one of your higher up's at the guard right it for you?

Pull some rank soldier! I still talk to ol' military buddies & any time any of us needs help, we help each other.
Have one of the guys in your unit sign one in front of a notary and buy them lunch. Or better yet give them a gift card to Home Depot. Stop over thinking this and keep it simple if you really want Maverick. -
Why don't you put that tanker endorsement to work for you. Several tanker companies will hire you.
If you don't want tanker, JBS Carriers also has a Texas fleet. -
Easy enough for your Admin section to do... Most of the time they will have someone in the office that can Notarize.
reddove Thanks this.
