Pursuing the right Trucking Company to start out with

I'll give you my .02 on the three:

Werner: If you have a clean record, use them as a last resort though some drivers do like them.
Stevens: Good, APU's on their trucks
May: Good training program

Add to the list Prime Inc, Schneider, Crete, Roehl, US Xpress, FFE, Star. Your best bet is to see if Prime Inc will accept you. Their starting pay is stellar for newbies. Its worth to look into Stevens, May, and Crete. Both have good training programs. If interested in flatbed, I'd look into Melton, and Cypress. Boyd might hire you since you live along the I-10 corridor.

easiest thing if you are looking for info on May, since you posted in this section, would be to look over the other posts that a few of us have kept up while we were starting with the company, and then ask questions that weren't answered.

 

Try Arnold Transportation since you live in FL. Not a bad starter company and they've got some pretty decent trainers. Good equipment.

US Express still has a large stake in them but they are run different enough that I'd say they are much more driver friendly than US.

 

Hi Becingul8r, I was looking for an update on how things went with your training and what company did you pick?

I retired 6 years ago from the Air Force and quite my gov contractor job last year. I'm doing alloy wheel repair now and am enjoying it but financially, it is a little light. My wife and I are both vets and have been thinking hard about going to TDI in Milton on the GI Bill and then team driving. How was your experience there?
