NOTE(took a break from bull wagon)

So I have been at Melton for a little over a month. I cannot says they are God's gift to trucking, since all companies have crap. But all in all Melton is decent. Like any company they have downfalls. So to all you complainers, deal with them cause thats life.

I have averaged 2500 miles a week, really I myself (meaning me, not the entire fleet) run from midwest to southeast and thats all. I was on the road for 1 month after oreintation, but had the option to go home after 2 weeks.

You can request hometime after 14 days, but unless you happen to be close to home it may take a week or so to get you there. I got home 2 days earlier than my requeted dates.

Tarp pay is $20 to put it on, and $20 to take it off. Stop pay is $25. I dont know detention pay since I always forget to request it....:biggrin_25510:

The $1000 bonus is if you get HazMat, passport, TWIC, in six months PLUS over 6mpg and safe and all. Paid within 30 days of your 6th month anniversy.

There is a fuel bonus for getting over 6.1 mpg (I think) I'm averaging 6.79

My DM is good, my loads range from 550 to 1200 miles, I have only had 1 load I didn't tarp.

Maitenance is good, my truck gets fixed within a few hours of trouble.

I HAVE NEVER BEEN ASKED TO RUN ILLEGAL there was a time when they rescheduled my appointment since I didn't have the hours.

    Communication is key!!!

So all in all they are good. There are downfalls like I've said. But I aint puttin em on here cause I aint here to b!tch and run a company into the ground. so thats all I got to say on em.

To all the whiners in the trucking world.... grow up,, trucking is trucking. I bet ya micky d's will screw you around just as much. Also, these "screwings" some of you get, did you ever wonder that maybe you only get 1 or 2 300 mile loads a week cause you dispatcher knows you like to sit and don't wanna work?:biggrin_25523:

Oh and in case you didn't get it GROW UP or get back to flippin burgers!

Also keep your childish comments to yourself, dont wanna hear em, and I aint gonna argue with you on a computer site. Unlike you, it doesnt make me feel more like a man to type big words and act hard....

Who are you referring to? No one has made any negative comments about your posts?

im am refering to general negative complaints that seem to always find there way onto a board. (mainly other boards i've been to. Just a habit that i put on things.)

Not meaning anyone specific, think of it as a surgeons general warning...

in all fairness just because you are having a good experience there doesnt mean there aren't other drivers that had bad experiences there and some of those drivers may not have been cut out for the work there. some companies are a good fit for some and a bad fit for others

I am glad you are doing well there. It didn't work out for Bill but that was just our experience, does not necessarily mean they are a bad outfit overall, just not a good fit for us.

Thanks!! I went through a really negative phase after Melton and was pretty much fed up with trucking. Now, after being away from it for over 6 months, I can honestly say I miss most aspects of "living in a truck". He is currently working for Allied Van Lines out of Buffalo NY doing mostly local/regional moves. He is not exactly loving it but he likes sleeping in a bed at night and a shower every morning so we are making it work. Now, if I could just convince him to try OTR again...:biggrin_25525:
