Well @slipperysnake from my time on trainers truck I went to KS, MO, MI, VA, WI, IN, IL, TX. Most of it was in one general area. Speaking to a few of the guys in my orientation class, some of them went to Massachusetts and ran all up and down the east. Another went west to Washington. They do have freight going everywhere.

I live on the west coast. When you put in for home time, if you are west its 2 weeks notice. They will get you home just will take time. I probably won't take my first home time for a few more weeks. So we will see how that goes.

First load was only about 400 miles. Guess they were testing me out. Next one is about 1200 miles. I should have no problems with it, stuff I've tarped/secured multiple times.

Hopefully I'll see you guys out there! Oh I've learned some drivers will ignore you because you're new. Everyone starts somewhere but I guess they forget that. I've met a lot of very helpful guys, and some who won't even waste a breath on you. Just move on when it comes to those guys.
I've helped anyone whose been helpful if they are in front of me loading. Just learn not to take things personally and move on with your day when it comes to the others. For the most part more helpful guys than non.

Have a great weekend everyone! Most of all stay safe!

Hey @Army91W thanks! My trainer told me keep hours between 8-9 per day and you shouldn't run out. That's what I'll try to do. Obviously there are days where you need more and some less.

I don't have gps on the truck yet. I've been using my phone which I got a truck gps app. I'll use my atlas along with the route plan melton sends. Haven't gotten into any trouble yet. Hope it stays that way.
I requested for the Qualcomm gps but it takes 1-2 weeks to activate. So I'll stick to what I got until it's on.

If you work (lines 3 and 4 both) no more than 8.75 hours a day, you will never go over 70. Easy to do in a van, little harder but still manageable with a skateboard

Your gps will be working tomorrow. Payroll activates it but they only do it Fridays and one other day. Depending on where I'm at I like to run later and sleep till 8 or 9 in the morning. Usually I run my clock out except in the Northeast, I'm parked by 6.

I had another Melton help me tarp a few days ago in Houston. He saw where I was making it hard on myself and gave me tips and he was right on but I have had other drivers blow right by me like I didn't exist. Is what it is. Have fun this wknd

Thanks for the info robot. It seems like most of you Melton guys are pretty happy, so I'm guessing its a decent company to work for.
I have a couple of questions though if anybody can help me out.
How long do you usually have to wait to get a load, or do they keep ya moving?
Is there a refrigerator or microwave in the trucks?
How fast do the trucks go?
Would you say the company really has a friendly, family atmosphere?
Didn't mean to hijack your thread robot, I'm just trying to get the inside scoop. Thanks for any help

They keep ya moving snake, pretty well too. No fridge or micro but trucks have apu and 1500 watt inverters so you can add your kitchen. Trucks run 65-66 and it really feels like family to me here.

Hey snake, I see your other questions have been answered, no problem here.
I've been feeling pretty home-y here so far. Everyone that passes on either side of freeway usually waves at me. When there was a few of us at the same place most of them will talk to you.
THey kept us moving, and so far it's staying true on my own. With the trainer we usually got a new load within an hour of unloading. We would pick up mornings usually and deliver mornings, unload and get another soon after. Haven't waited around too long really, which has been nice. Even if you have to dead head somewhere, they will send you where needed to get a load.

I wish I could keep my hours at 8.75 hours a day. My DM runs me like crazy. I have to run 600 miles a day. I normally get my rests on the weekends if I get a 1000 miles run or less. I just pick up in Oakland CA. A brand mew account and it is on a scary side of town and its a pain in the #####

Learn as much as you can and ask a lot of questions. I find the driving is the easy part. Securing legally and safe and tarping is the hard part
