quick question about melton before i apply. i skimmed through the site and didnt see this.
how long out with a trainer?
training pay?
will the trainer only teach u flatbed things like tarping or will he help you with backing/shifting?
does melton have any home weekly in the midwest or its 2 weeks out minimum? i live about 320 miles from tulsa.
i know trucks have apu's but they have inverters and fridges?
also these are not autoshifts like transam right? i actually want to shift..
thank you

Keim TS has a terminal in Sabetha, KS & Medicine Lodge, KS.
"Keeping our drivers safe and comfortable is our priority. Thats why we invest in new Kenworth T660 trucks with comfortable 86 studio sleepers, Cummins power engines and Sirius Radio every year. And our staff of top-notch and knowledgeable mechanics keep those trucks in top running order."
They sometimes hire new CDL school grads.
00stephen Thanks this. -
I bought a 2010 used truck from them. It did have inverter, but no fridge. with the inverter you could add either a cigarette lighter one or and ac one. They are 10 speed direct drive trans. (manual shift) The newer trucks are similarly speced.
Chinatown Thanks this. -
$70 per day, since u are working 7 days technically you get 490$ a week.
trainers are all different, but they should help you regarding everything (mine taught me to back, it was my weakest area esp w split axle)
minimum out 2 weeks for you. 1 day of hometime for every 7 days out
1500w inverters, no fridge. i bought a fridge at walmart and works pretty well. plugs right into inverter.
yes 10 speeds manual -
i talked with a melton recruiter and they said they only take people with 3 months exp.. this sucks something about a "hiring board" or some bs, ill probably still apply.
kiem ts only hires students if you live 50 miles from their sabetha, ks terminal... because you will be responsible for going home on the weekends from there. -
I'm on my 3rd day with trainer. I was hired right out of cdl school with no experience. 8 days of orientation and 21 days with trainer before I get my own truck. The APu is nice. I'll add microwave fridge And tv on my own truck for creature comforts.
my trainers truck is a 680 and they all come with a fridge already installed. -

10-4 you are right!!! 660 only has Inverter and APU, some are 1500 watt inverter, and some that have been replaced already are 1800 watt inverter! I've got a 1800 and i power a tv, fridge, playstation, dvd player, phone charger, laptop, and microwave! Life can be comfortable out here, but its all about what you make of it! -
Hey you guys do you know about how much a year should i expect with melton the my first year? Out of school.
