Day 4 is in the books. We watched 2 videos and 3 power points today. Went over drop and hook, backing and pre-trip. Tomorrow we do actual pre-trip, drop and hook, straight line backing. Then driving the Millis 500 with trailers. Fun Fun Fun

Day 5 is done and I'm sitting at home. Unlike most of my classmates. Today we started off with an actual Pre-trip inspection. After that we rolled over to the Millis yard @ Miller Brewing and checked out some different loads of beer. Side note: PBR is still alive and well thanks to Miller Brewing Co.. Saw some pallets of it in the back of a trailer. Moving along with the day. After getting back we ran into Sully and then Bear showed up. It was great meeting them. We went over tearing down bulk heads and strapping cargo. Break for lunch then out on the driving range to work on straight line backing (humbling experience on that one) then some drop and hook action. After that we drove the trucks with empty trailers attached. Did good on the drop and hook and driving around. Still need work on the straight line backing. Also we got bad news today. Bill Smith our instructor is going on vacation for the next 2 weeks (He broke the news at the end of the day.) Looks like we will have Harold for next week and Woody for the last week with Bill returning for orientation. We had just got bill broke in and now he slips out on us.:biggrin_2556: Glad i'm home right now. I think I'm coming down with something. So I'll run by the doc's office tomorrow. Hopefully I'll be better by Monday. Have a good weekend everyone.

No worries - you'll love Harold and Woody is a hoot! I had Woody for 1 week while in C-ville. He is not as vocal as Bill but sure knows what he is talking about! Woody still runs OTR every day!

Thanks for the info, looking forward to next week. I think were suppose to be on the range for most of the week. Hitting the road on Thursday and class room on Friday. Should be a good week.

Hope you are feeling better Gtown. I guess it is getting that time of year when the crud will start being spread around.

Day 6 is over and what a day it was. Harold is our instructor this week since Bill is on vacation. Class started today at 7 and we went over the homework that we had this weekend and last weeks overall quiz. Then we went out on the range and did pre-trips in the pouring rain. After pre-trip we practice our backing that we learned last week. Half way through the morning Harold showed us how to do a off-set back and a offside parallel park. Man the day flew by, it was 5 before we knew it. I've got the straight line backing down and the off-set backing is pretty good, but still having trouble with the Offside Parallel park. Hopefully I'll get it down tomorrow....fingers crossed.

While I was working on my parallel parking Whitey stopped by and gave us some encouragement and wisdom. Thanks for stopping by and spending some time with the newbies. It was great meeting you today.
