I was fortunate that my trainer lived by Trenton and so did I so if he got home so did I. He also let the students stay with him if they wanted, or he would get them a room. Not sure there is a huge cost with the hotels for students to stay in for what 2-3 days at most while a trainer goes home. Pulling them off a trainers truck, lining them up with a new trainer, and everything that goes with it seems like a huge hassle to save a few bucks that they write off at the end of the year as it is.

Does the trainee loose money while waiting for this to happen? I'm sure the new trainer is not there waiting on you. In other words, is the trainee having to wait at a terminal for their new trainer?

Normally the student must drive 4 hrs a day to get paid. However, you may want to ask as this might have changed when they have to move a student into a hotel waiting on a new trainer.

I would guess that's a major part of it.

So in other words, the student is still put in a hotel and not sitting at the terminal while waiting for a new trainer? Does anyone know how long this last on average? If its not less than waiting for the original trainer, they should have just left things alone. Unless, I missed something, the company is still paying for the room, right?

No sir, not yet. Looking to do it during tax season. Would you be interested in meeting up on your hometime?

Thats very understandable. Can't blame you for that. Just thought we could talk in person sometime. Be safe. Are you on regional now? If so, is that working out better for you now (miles, etc.)?

It's not as common as some might say/think on here but it does happen. Normally there is another trainer in the area to get the student with in a day or so. Yes the company is footing the tab for the room but you're not getting paid as a student if your not in the truck driving. Thats the issue more than anything. If I am swapping for another trainer I will try my best to get there ASAP to get the student but it all depends on freight going that way.
