    Hi,
I worked for a car-hauling company during the busy season for about 3 months. After the busy season was over, they started assigning me a lot of really crappy assignments & they even wrote me up for something I didn't do & they insisted I sign the write-up w/ the false info on it. I told them I wouldn't sign it unless they let me add some info to the bottom of the page so it would represent the truth. They said either I sign it, or I'm letting myself go. I didn't sign it. Then they wanted me to sign a paper stating that I voluntarily quit. They had one of their supervisors pop the door open on me while I was cleaning out my truck, w/out knocking, & tell me that I needed to sign the voluntary quit paper for my own protection. I went to the head supervisor for that terminal and told him what the supervisor said & he denied I needed to sign it for my protection. What is this, some sort of racket? I told him all this for would do is prevent me from collecting unemployment & I didn't voluntarily quit, so I'm not signing it. I told them to give me another load and I'll keep working, but I'm not signing the paper. I even talked to the upper-management, one of the owners & he used the same irrational arguments, namely, that if I didn't sign the written complaint I was firing myself. Then they told me they wouldn't pay for a bus home. They also said they would not drive me to the bus-station unless I signed the voluntary quit notice. I started calling a cab & they took me to the grey-hound. Anyway, I've been home for over a month now & I just got this notice in the mail that says I owe them for damages done to a car 4 months ago. This is the first time I've heard that they filed a claim on me.
Now I'm wondering how many more claims are they going to say I owe them money for? I have no idea.
So it says the car was shipped on 9-29-2011, the claim date was 1-4, they paid it on 1-10 and now on 2-17 I finally get this claim notice in the mail. It says the claim is filed against my driver escrow account. Why did they wait for me to be unemployed for a month before they sent me this claim? I have no idea how much money is in that escrow account, or if they will add other claims to the money they say I owe them, or if they will even take this money from my bank account. I don't think I can afford a lawyer. This is sad. This car-hauler hauls the expensive stuff, and us drivers work our butts off and they are collecting a lot more than 20%, they have to be, cause I'd be lucky to bring in $750 a week, & that's visiting home 2 days every 2 weeks. That's working hard, & now that the busy season is over, they discard me, and are taking their money back. Anyone ever heard of such a thing? What would you do? They didn't really go over this in our 1 week of paper-training/orientation & our 1 week of hand-on training. It says I have 30 days to appeal the claim. How many more claims are they going to file on me? I'm not sure I can afford it all. What if they take it out of my bank account? Why doesn't this company just leave me alone. I busted my butt for them through their busy season. I had no idea they would do me like this when it ended.
