    "NO"
I have worked for them for 1.5 years and they'll leave you sitting, And cheat you out of your money. they were recently bought out {80% of company}By US Express, And they have been on a steady down hill turn since then.
they pay home mover guide mileage and the insurance is out ragious. Next week is my last week with them. I was hired for dedicated and have been running otr for them since the end of december,.

I mentioned above about total cheating you out of your money,
here's what happened, about 8 months ago I bought a Mini. Schnauzer, and got him trained for riding in the truck, Never had any problems with him, Then Total changes there pet policy and it now cost you $ 50. per week till you reach $500.00. Thats not that bad of a problem.
The problem is that its not a deposit. They charge you the five bills and you don't get nothing back.
About two weeks ago, They sent me a message on the qualcom that I would be picking up a load 45 miles from our terminal. it was supposed to be ready friday at 1400, I finaly get the load sat around 530pm..26 hour's of my time wasted. If they would have told me that it would be ready saturday evening, I could have planned my time. The same thing happened to another driver there the next weekend,
I must admit the whole time I have been working for total the dispatcher's have treated me good and I enjoyed working there, Untill I came off my dedicated run, Maybe I'm just spoiled...

I'm glad they are taking care of you, I know several driver's that just recently quit from lack of miles and to much sitting around. If I'm going to be out on the road, I have to make the miles so I can take care of the home front and the bill collector. If There are taking care of you, Keep on doing what your doing, and I wish you well.

Well i can say that it has been slow, but not so slow that i still cant get at least 2500 a week. Now with that being said; I am still home on the weekends. I wish that you would come back and give them another try becouse with the way the economy is today, I think you would be pretty satisfied with the company.

the company i am running for is steadily taking there loads from them (total)... as of 12-01-08 we took there memphis to monroe, la runs..... monroe, la to west memphis. harahan, to west memhis and memphis and return routes.... the reason i know this i am on a dedicated run now from harahan to memphis or west memphis and then to monroe and back to harahan or just to memphis and back to harahan.... total still has them runs but as we hire more drivers the total will be weeded out... :biggrin_25518:

    good luck jugg (257)

why do people always whine about a pet fee, Total, US Xpress, and all the other US Xpress owned companies have the same pet policy. $500 fee, not deposit...... Also this fee is only charged 1 time, even if you get assigned another truck. Just be glad they don't hit you $500 each time you change trucks. As for cheating you out of money, that is BS, the last time I checked they didn't require you to have a dog in the truck.

I would love to bring my dog with me, however the cost is not worth it to me, when the dog can just stay at home and play with the kids.

look at it this way, you just gave them a car payment so your dog could ride in the truck with you. I guess common sense really isn't common anymore.

My dad drives for US Xpress now, and has been for nearly a year, and he didn't take his dog with him until he bought is own truck.

I think the way the pet policy is set up,, When you have a pet on the truck,,They charge you the five hundred dollar's , If your dog messes up the truck, They charge you for the damages out of the five hundred dollars. Then you they take out the fee's . and re charge you the difference of the cost so that you are back up to five hundred dollar's.
While I was there they had one guy that had a pit bull and the dog was left in the truck and destroyed a seat in one of the trucks.
There was another driver that would lay down the puppy pads and his dog's would crap on the pads. He went into the shop and the mechanic's refused to work on the inside of his truck because of the smell. I can understand why a company would charge a pet deposit. But can't understand how they can justifi taking someone's money and not giving it back. There's alot of driver's that have pets that keep the inside of the truck well maintained with the dog living in there. Just my two cents.. Good subject, This one needs to be on the main page.Tom

Hmm, I guess you should just be glad they even let you bring fido along with you.... the $500 is suppose to fix the problems with the truck if there are any. but what happens if you let the dog eat a seat and a seatbelt and crap all over the truck, then show up at the terminal with the truck and say I quite, after they already replaced the seat fido ate this time 2 months ago, and did not recoupe the balance to $500.... Not sure what that seat would cost but I am sure it is not cheap, and when they get ready to sell, trade or lease the truck it will be a little hard with only 1 seat and 1 seatbelt. They most likely have it as a fee, so that when someone else does what I just stated above, the don't punish everyone by just canceling all pets.

I say the deposit or fee, which ever the company imposes is okay
