Well I have been on here in the past, searching for the goods and the bads of companies, I have seen posts on here with questions regarding Mcelroy Truck Lines Training and orientation. So here is what I experienced.

First off if they accepted you for Orientation then you are above standards based on the application you submitted.

Once you get to Orientation, Mainly in Cuba, AL you will have a long day the 1st day, 7am-9pm maybe a little earlier or later.

Day 1- Paper work and more Paper work, Drug screen, more paper work, videos and tests, your class room instructor will give you a quiz after each video. you will then around 5 or so get a demo on the Simulator. After this you will begin Computer Based Training. It takes a bit. After this you will go to your room and get ready for Day 2.

Day 2- You will be picked up by an instructor and taken for a DOT physical and Physical Agility Test. This will take most of the day.

Day 3-This is classroom instruction, videos, quizzes, etc. You will also be given a chance to drive their truck around the block aprox. 2 miles, this is to see how well you shift and drive the truck. Pay attention, they did not bring you there to send you home! After this those that need shift training will get to do so, Everyone will have Simulator Training on an appointment basis.

Day 4- Classroom, Yard Training, Videos, and a Driving Test also you will have the chance to complete any Computer Training

Day 5- Either you are hired or not, If you are great the journey begins if not you must have shown no improvement or attitude of wanting to learn. Go home or to the motel whichever you choose. If you drive home its at your own expense, the motel is covered for you if you stay. Must return by 11am Sunday Morning to the Terminal.

Okay so you Made it to Week 1 Training.

Day 1- Backing Skills all day, maybe some shift training etc.

Day 2- Shift Practice, Classroom and Yard instructions Driving with a full load , some will have simulator and computer based training.

Day 3- Pretty much the same as the day before but today you will have a road test with some challenges, Once again PAY ATTENTION! They will teach you to haul a flatbed trailer. These instructors are great at what they do.

Day 4- Yard training shift practice, classroom quizzes simulator training etc. By this day you will have been graded on your backing skills.

Day 5- Mostly out on the yard learning how to properly secure a load, some class room maybe some shift training. All computer testing must be completed this day.

Day 6- Get your trainer packet, some classroom instruction a few videos. Go home and get ready for your trainer and over the road 4 weeks.

You will have assignment to complete after hours every single day you are there, they ,must be COMPLETE and turned in the following morning.
I have to say, this is a wonderful company, they will improve your abilities if you allow them to, be on time respectful and take in what they teach you. They honestly do care about your safety and the safety of other on the road. They may seem strict and throw a lot on you but that's trucking, you have to be able to handle the pressure. I am new to all this but I know this is a great place if you want to run a flatbed! And YES they do get you home EVERY weekend when you go out on your own without a trainer, if your trainer lives near you then you will go home during the 4 weeks as well but it is not guaranteed that you will receive a trainer close to you.

ONCE AGAIN...Everyone I have ever came into contact that is associated with this company are very nice a caring individuals. Just my opinion.

The sunshine injections normally end with the recruiter. Interesting. Anyways, carry on and continue to apply yourself to learning.

I heard McElroy was a "super Christian" company. Which is just fine and very respected by me. The question I have would be are they shoving religion down your throat?

No they do not, there in Cuba AL they have a small chapel and a box for prayer request but never once did I hear of any religion preaching.
