Sorry if this has been asked before, but I found a posting for an O/O with a company called AW Transport out of Glenview, IL that is claiming they pay $2.00-$2.20 per mile. I'm wondering how they can do that when most other ads from other companies I see are saying they'll pay about $1.00/mile?
I've been out of trucking for the last 13 years, am considering coming back, and am rather surprised to see that the pay per mile for O/O's as well as company drivers hasn't changed a bit with the ads I'm seeing paying around $1.00/mile for O/O's. And Fuel is literally 400% higher than it was when I owned a truck! I'm sure insurance, and all the other fun stuff has gone up as well... I guess I'm wondering what's going on? I would have thought the pay would be considerably more by now, not the same as it was over a decade ago. Hell, it's actually less, as I was getting $1.25/mile BACK THEN! Is this aw transport some kind of fluke, or am I not looking hard enough at other companies besides these $1.00/mile outfits??

Probably is, but I would have to take the pay cut to go there.

Guys, I'm not a recruiter, and never have been. I'm just asking for advice, as I'm NOT entertaining $1.00/mile. I don't know how ANYONE could afford that. The Pete's I'm looking at get around 4mpg running hard, maybe 5-6 if lucky...

Here is how I did it. Look them eye to eye. I will do the job, do your job and we will be happy. I never discuss $$ politics, or religion. Worked pretty good for 20 + years..

Well at least you've realized you can't stay in business or start up as an O/O if you're gonna get paid $1 mile.
i wouldn't give anything a second look below $2.25 mile. But each to his own.

the math just doesn't work at a buck a mile... And looking at some posts here about load boards, I'm seeing loads paying around $1.10. I'm confused at to what to do. Leasing to a buck a mile company isn't an option. Being truly independent, and getting brokered loads at around $1.10 a mile isn't an option either. After hellowrenchturn posted the link about the company I was looking at, I wouldn't lease on with them if I've got to compete with company drivers. Any ideas?
