Hi Lynch, I am a wannabe that got my permit today. I spoke with Sandy and she said I fit the requirements and emailed me the app and stuff today also. Your posts have been awesome and I hope to be in MT around the end of Jan. Keep the info comming it is great to read about the company. Any recomendations for me? I start school the end of sept. (western trk school in sacramento) I was looking at other companies but yours and others post about WS have given me a direction to go and I am pumped about WS. Question? What are truck lanes? I presume it is a standard truck route that companies use but please clarify. Thanks again and Happy Thanksgiving!

Hey Lynch/Old Friend-
I probably just missed you in Modesto last week. Had to go to Turlock to signup for school, and took my physical in Modesto. I start at Western Truck School in Turlock next Monday (after Thanksgiving). Western was receommended by Roxy, and they appear to really have their stuff together. Good outfit from what I can tell so far. I have to go up there (I'm in Lancaster, CA now) this Friday to take a 10 hr D.O.T. compliance course before school starts next Monday. Still strongly considering W/S. I have a call in to Roxy to visit with her about that. I should graduate on Dec 17th, hopefully with my CDL. After that, I'm going to spend Christmas with my girls either here in Cali with my folks or fly back to Big D to be with them there. Haven't dcide whether to fly them out here or me fly back to Dallas. I will hopefully, then, go to work around the first of the year. Anyway, glad to hear you made it through and are enjoying your new profession. I'm a little behind my original schedule. I've been working construction with my stepdad here in Southern California for the last month. At least it's allowed me to save some money and pay for school. Keep me updated, you have my contact info I believe.
All the Best-

sneak, as for the truck lanes ur asking about.... i wouldnt say they have any usual lanes, youll go pretty much anyplace that has blaktop, even dirt roads, u can expect to see I5 often, and being that u live that way, u should be happy with that, if u go back a few pages, ull see my dear ol' body Nawlins who always talked about seeing nothing but I5, this is true, however, if u play ur cards right, u should never complain about running the 5, however, their is also the beer loop, others can inform u on the loop, but when i got stuck on the loop it was usually from ft collin to mt, to ut, to co, and then over again, however, im more of an east coast runner then out west... which i think after thanksgiving im going west,
lynch,6309,redneck, and wing im going to try and come west!, no promise tho, iv asked once to go west already and was told i was being held captive by kh2.cause you other drivers dont like to come to the east coast!, whimps!
Boog, i actually just spoke to roxy the other day, and she told me u were back on with watkins, id sure hope to see you come this way. best of luck to you during school!! keep us posted, as im sure you will.
i do beleive that roxy is good friends with the guy that runs the school ur going to, and she would not have recomended that school if was not a good one!, but dont quote me on that!.
anyhow, best of luck to you!!!.
lynch, 2 hours to clean the truck??? it took me a full 34 reset to clean a pretty clean truck!
...u did something wrong if it only took u 2 hours...

Hope to see you there. -
Good for all of you! You wont regret coming to work for the company. Roxy or Sandy are the first impressions of the company and they represent what the company's all about. Glad to hear you guys are coming on board!
BOOG!!!!! Long time my friend! Glad you're still out there and considering coming to work for W/S and drive truck! Glad to hear all is going well and that you'll be attending the orientation soon! I wondered where you'd been. Hope all is well with you.
Warp, keep us updated on your progress bro! Wanna see how it all goes for you
Snake, my only advice to you, do extra work on your shifting whenever you can and back whenever you can during your school (if you've never driven truck before). These are the main points W/S trainers focus on when deciding if you're able enough to drive one of their trucks. Also not killing people, running over curbs, speeding, all that goes a long way with them too. Just pay attention in class and you'll be fine
Last but not least S2B! My friend.... Coming out west eh? Don't know if we want your east coast stench out hereJust jokin. It'd probably be easier for us to meet up that way, and hey, maybe by the time you're ready to go back east, I'll be ready to join you. Like I said, the truck wasn't that dirty, just needed a wipe down and a wee vaccuum. Not sure what condition yours was in to require a 34 to clean it. #### son

Hey everyone. Im going to Watkins/Shepard for a 10 day class on Dec. 2nd. Anyone have any info on what to expect from the 10 day course???
-
Tenpinoutlaw, you can expect to lean A LOT! in 10 days. im not kidding, youll need to mently prepare yourself for the amount of info they are going to jam into your head,
like any other place, ur first day will consist of paperwork, and prob saftey videos, also prepare for a decent amount homework as well, the rest of the days will be training, hands on work, backing, driving, takin hills, downshifting down hill.... if ur in the 10 day, they expect you to know how to drive a truck already, shift, turn etc. -
Thanks Lynch, S2B, and Warp for the reply,
I am all about focus and prep for the job. This is a long time dream come true for me. Hope to see ya Warp at WS in Jan. I may still be there but it all depends on when I get to start school (western truck school in sacramento) All depends on the folks at Workforc Investment Board. I mt whit them on thurs Dec 3rd to fill out app for funding. I have class start dates of 21 Dec and 04 Jan then four weeks till CDL!
Am i pretty much lookin at gettin a Volvo after the 10 day or is there a chance for a Freightliner (just like those FL's) I'll drive with pride what ever I get though. Lynch do you think that I can get a sat radio installed prior to going out my first time or?????????????? I love the Road dog station on sirrus. Thanks again and drive safe! -
snake, they wont install it for you, they will just give you the reciever, and u can install it whenever you find time to do so.
pretty much the deal with the trucks are you get whats available, could be either make... gotta make the best of it in the begining
road dog is good.... i love me some playboy radio also!!! -
Thanks S2B, I got this truckin bug bad and can't get enough. I'm sure that will change once I start doing it for awhile. No prob about which type of truck I get, I will be blessed either way. It's cool that they will give me a sat receiver! Hey S2B do you get thru the modesto terminal very often? I live close to Travis AFB and have seen a couple of WS rigs going up and down Peabody lately, including a day cab. I'll try and get truck #'s so I can see who is in the neighborhood. Be safe and Happy Thanksgiving!
