Driving for mclane - salary?

yeah really just extra board stuff as for as the money it will be up and down. one day they call you to run a two stop route with 100 case the next day backhauls which is hr 15 hourly paid then the next day you may not work at all just on call but if they call you and tell you that your on call more than likely you will be there working doing something so i made around 1200 to 1400 every two weeks but if your running real routes than you will make 2000 every two weeks but it is alot of work. yeah i was at us foods and i was making 1200 a week doing half the work and no nights i was fire because of a bad backing accident so if you wanted to know, but a good company. but maybe mclane may work out for you, but i have done foodservice for the past fours years and so far it was the worst but keep trying at either us or sysco. sysco is more work and a little more money than us foods but overall money is about the same 70 to 80 a year, but i am was out of atlanta so it may be different there

 

From what I am reading I have just one question. Is Mclane a Union shop?

 

OK, 2 questions. What sort of pay scale is used at Mclane, and how does it work?

 

no union they pay by the miles cases and stops most foodservice do i have a interview with pfg i will let you know about them also. Mclane may work out for you but it wasn't for me. being on call 24-7 means just that with Mclane!

 

Ok, can anyone tell me what this company is like to work for. In Tacoma, Wa. The rest of the country does not help me. Also any info on their pay scale, work schedule, how treat drivers, etc. All info would be greatly appreciated. Thinking of applying at the Tacoma, Wa. facility.

Hi I curently work for Mclane in MN. as one of the drivers, I am on the x-tra board and have been there over a year. I injoy the Hard work but what ever you do DON"T HAVE AN ACCIDENT, and by an accident I mean, Scratch any part of the truck or trailer, Hit a Dear or any other animal, break any of the lights on truck or trailer, trip and hurt yourself, have a box fall out of the trailer 12' above you and hit you in the head, Heaven forbid the first thing they are concernd about is where they can send you to take a DRUG TEST, and dose the other driver have enough hours to start delivering the load..... the money is nice but you'll work your ARSE OFF for it. the whare house people think we make to much money $60,000+ a year but as far as wages go if we made as much per hour as they do, for the same amount of hours we work a week we would make about $119600+ a year... so as a Driver for Mclane we are so stupid. most of the drivers don't care about the rules and regulations, they only care about the weight, cube,drops and how much revanue. that's how we get paid. the formula is so secret that none of us drivers can figure out what we are suposed to be making. we are told that we get a 3% increase in pay every year, but when we ask them to show us our pay increase they CAN'T, they get out there and say well are you makeing more money this year then last, our answer is yes but we are working Harder this year then last, they can't prove that we are getting a pay increase, and they cant x-splane how to figure out our pay checks... I honestly believe they are shorting us on our pay, and so do a bunch of other drivers, one driver found a mistake of $6000 after he proved it they gave it to him but it was a easy one to figure out they mis judged the amount of years of service, O and we have a old wal-mart store manager for a terminal manager. It gets good when they ask us drivers to take a new hire out for a road test, I tell them it's the Terminal Managers Job, or the Saftey Directors Job not us Drivers... our Teminal Manager has never ever been in a Big Truck our saftey director has a Class B.
now with the new whare house opening up down in MO. we are getting wrote up for the littlest things they can think of. trying to get rid of Drivers because we are loseing a bunch of loads that went to MO. Realy nice

 

Myswell go with Sysco (they hire newbies) and work your arse off there and be home daily and weekends.

 

Are you home daily, or out for several days? I only see day cabs.

 

My buddy worked for them, they ran team sleepers was out for 18-24hrs only then go home for a 10 and back out. There is two divisions the daycab is another division and yes home daily or 1 day layover probably. He said Mclane paid the best out of all the foodservice he worked for.
