WTI is the O/O segment of Boyd Brothers. They haul a lot of cheap shingles.
That is all I know. -
I was told, Friday the 24th of July that WTI will be Boyd in two weeks. I was loading at Owens Corning in Memphis,Tn and was talking to two drivers with WTI. Most of the drivers Ive talked to like WTI and hate Boyd. WTI has alot of O/O's who do good and when Boyd finally takes over they will be running for cpm instead of %.
seawind Thanks this. -
Do u know anything about Boyd lease purchase .. I would like one of tthose petes or prostars
Anybody know
Specs
Payments
Fuel discounts etc
All info given would be great even some settlement numbers -
Boyd has owned WTI for years. Boyd has always had control, now they may be changing the name & getting rid of the WTI name... Wouldn't surprise me.... Western Xpress just did that same thing with SMX.
Boyd Bros. & WTI pay percentage... Not mileage.seawind Thanks this. -
Hi, I am scheduled for orientation this Monday with WTI Transport out of Tuscaloosa Alabama. Does anyone know anything good or bad about them as I have searched and haven't been able to come up with anything.
Thanks -
They are all the same company! Body & WTI - there are owner ops and company drivers at both - the only difference is the name & that the WTI dispatchers work out of the Birmingham office/terminal.
As for Lease Purchase - the last I heard was that Boyd had suspended hiring anymore O/O until further notice due to the economy but then again that was just a rumor so who knows.
As for pay - company drivers make mileage pay - O/O have a choice of mileage or %. There is some broad information on their website about all of that and what they offer.
I thought they were a pretty decent company to work for once you get out there on your own. They have their fair share of negatives though once you come into a terminal. The freight was good but that was awhile back. If you live down south then they pretty much keep you running down there, same if you live up north - you seem to stay up around Ohio, Ill, and back over to Pa, Va, NC. Every once in awhile you might get lucky and get a load down to Laredo, or somewhere with some miles on it. The average trip is around 550 miles. The O/O I talked to seemed pretty happy with their deals at Boyd and the guy who runs the O/O program is pretty decent - he is probably the best person to deal with next to Ms. Betty in recruiting.
Anyway - it's flatbed which is not doing all that well right now. They suffer the most during times like these. You will have to get your TWIC card and a FAST card or passport as they are working to get more port & canadian freight. You also have to pay for everything up front - including a "savings account" that they deduct from your pay each week. Like I said, it has it's negatives but overall if I had to go back I would run with Boyd.future driver Thanks this. -
Thanks for the info but according to their website they are paying company drivers % pay now. You say you have to pay for everything up front. Is this if you are new out of school or an experienced driver and what would I need to pay for? I already have a TWIC card and I asked about a passport and they said I didn't need it. I guess because I am from the south east. I appreciate the information very much.

How much experience does WTI want?
-
I would like to set the record straight here and please dont post things about wti when you dont know what you are talking about. "WTI IS NOT IN ANY WAY OWNED BY BOYD AND IS NOTHING LIKE BOYD AND IS NOT GETTING TAKEN OVER BY BOYD!!!" They simply have a business relationship where they purcase equipment and such other things together to get volume discounts. The relationship dates back to before WTI and Boyd even exised The Welborn Family (WTI) and the Boyd Family (Boyd Bros) both were friends before the went into the trucking business.
Skunk_Truck_2590 Thanks this.
