Basically I am looking for some solid info on jobs in the oil industry. I know there was a big boom in recent years in the Dakotas. I am more interested in the areas of Wyoming and Colorado. I know some companies offer housing etc. What are some good companies and areas to look at? I have heard that there is good money in this field. I have searched around and have not found too much solid advice and I would would like to hear what people in the industry are saying. Most of what I have found is from 2011. Any info would be greatly appreciated. Thanks for your time.
Quick note 2+ years CDL and I will have my hazmat, doubles and tanker endorsements shortly.

The woman in my signature can give you all the info you want about the company I'm with.
There are a couple threads which have some good info:
http://www.thetruckersreport.com/tr...rucking-forum/87919-jobs-in-nd-oil-patch.html
http://www.thetruckersreport.com/truckingindustryforum/trucking-jobs/180266-texas-vs-nd.html

those are the two which pop to mind right away, I'm sure there are more. -
Thank you very much.

plenty of work in Wyoming and Colorado...
But most of the companies here require 3 or 4 years experience. -
What about Stallion?

Thanks for asking me about WY and CO. I have heard of some oil operations but nothing that pays like ND. I have a friend working on a rig in WY North of Casper, but he is on his feet all day long and I have no interest in a job like that, but he makes what a haul driver makes. I have also heard of some work near Grand Junction, but nothing specific. Sorry, that's all I have on those states.
CameronChase Thanks this. -
Research oil and gas plays that will tell you where all the work is expected to be in the next 20 years. Then figure out what you want to do haul crude, water, frac sand, pipe then research all those related companies in that area. I haul frac sand in Texas, Oklahoma, Arkansas, Colorado, Kansas and New Mexico primarily. Have hauled it in Wyoming, North Dakota, Pennsylvania,Montana and West Virgina. If your considering Colorado I'd look at northeastern Colorado unless you want to play in the mountains. Then western Colorado will do. Be warned there are no paved roads to the wells in the mountains for the most part and the grades are often 15% or more so choose wisely.
CameronChase and Rocket1949 Thank this. -
I heard that Sanjel has a position open for a pumping services operator in Riverton, Wy.-$65k/yr, no OT, 80-100 hrs/wk, 15 on/6 off. I talked to an ex-Sanjel hand that said in his case that it worked out to a bit more than $13.90/hr. He said that there is sometimes incentive pay involved as well. Does anyone know if this sounds right? Thanks!

Hollywood, what exactly is frac sand? Is it something that is available only in certain areas and how far away is it trucked in from? I'm new to this oilfield lingo and trying to understand the process. Where you a studio driver at one time or is Hollywood a name you acquired ?
