Take a look at Baker Hughes...they have quite a few cement operator positions open; basically running iron after you drive the rig out to location. I got an interview right away and I've only been driving for 5 months. 18 bucks an hour to start and they typically work around 90 hours a week. As a sidenote, a bunch of our Key drivers quit; I let it be known the other day that Baker Hughes was interested in me, and all of a sudden I'm offered a new truck and a rig home which assures me of good hours so I'm staying on at Key for awhile longer until they piss me off again LOL.

Good for you! I've been interested in cement for a while. Key in George West is down to about 7 drivers now and dropping. Baker Hughes has a large yard in S. Antonio but I think it's frac only. Do you know some of the yards that do cement?

Well, since I am located in Seminole I was concentrating on Hobbs, NM. Let me look and I'll post a link to their open positions page. Oh, wait a minute, I just remembered...Sanjel is holding a job fair in Cibolo near San Antonio on the 20th. Get ahold of them quicklike and get on the interview list.

Sorry. Been in East err West Jesus for last week. Go find Orla TX on map and head West about 20 miles. No phone service. No nothing. lol
Mallt is big outfit. They have a lot of yards I pickup from. Couple in FTW. Others in Shattuck OK. all around.
Our minimum for shorties is about $135. Down from $160 6 months ago. $15 hr after 2 hours.
Have not talked to many of their drivers. All putt around in white Shakers.
Don't know about Rockwater. Sounds good. Seem to have decent equipment

I worked for Maalt in Ft.Worth, TX. They are not a fly by night company. They are actually a big company and own silos at rail heads in both Ft.Worth and Midilothian, TX. They mostly store sand for Halibuton and do almost all of EOG Resources, Inc.'s work. Many people have quit Maalt because Maalt decided to start slip seating their trucks up here. The pay has went down and the 2 hours free time that you have to give them to load and unload is ridiculous. The pay that you are describing is a waste of your time as most hauls will be less than 60 miles and you will be lucky to get 2 loads per day. Your looking at making $150 gross for 12-14 hours of work daily. There is a reason why you will continue to see Maalt's ads everywhere, and that's because the pay versus the hours are terrible.

I hauled a load to a well and the supervisor for Maalt told me that the well was having problems so he needed to move my appointment time forward another hour. That meant I gave them 3 hours free. After I unloaded I was told to be back in 9 hours with my next load. It only takes 5 hours to be back with a load. He basically wanted me to sit another 4 hours for free. That is when I told them to shove it where the sun doesn't shine and moved on.

The offer being made by MAALT in South Texas is one of the better offers I have seen for oilfield trucking. What is posted here is not even close to the complete offer, which is probably why it has received sketchy marks from my fellow drivers. MAALT is affiliated with the Chesapeake group of vendors and is the sole provider of sand hauling for all of Performance Technologies wells, which we all know is CHK's fracking company. In the same region, they offer a $3500 sign on bonus, FREE housing, quarterly bonuses for safety, annual bonuses for tenure and a $5/load increase each year to a cap of $95/load (up from the $75/load as stated). Benefits are iffy, full coverage available with some added coverages priced, but expensive for family. They have a boot program where a boot truck pulls into the yard once a month and all anniversary drivers can come and pick out a pair of boots and walk out with them on MAALT. They barbecue and do giveaways like TV's, Kindle Fires, etc down to gift cards.
There was a time last year when the company was led by a guy from the LTL side, Danzer something or another, and he drove drivers away, making it all about money/company and not about the people, but on January 1st of this year, they promoted a guy who actually started as a driver to the GM position and since then, I have heard nothing but good things. Myself and a couple friends are thinking about taking them up on the offer in DFW, which comes with a $1k sign on bonus, but haven't moved just yet.
Oh and on the long post with the LONG break down about pay, 5-7 hours isn't even close to right. They load out of those pretty tall silos at Gardendale rail depot, takes about 6 minutes to load a truck.

To Ben, best of luck finding that dream behind the gleam brother. Every truckers paradise is somewhere in this country, :). Feel free to PM if you have any questions about the oilfield or getting into sand hauling, pretty easy work.

Good pay starts at $150 for short loads and goes up for longer loads. Maalt's loads are going to wells anywhere from 2 miles to 98 miles from their Gardendale load facility just north of Cotulla. Maalt may be the ideal job for newbies trying to get into the frac sand industry, but they by no means pay well for an experienced sand hauler. The reason they can easily afford to give away all of that stuff that you described truckdriver74 is because their drivers are earning them record profits since they only pay their drivers $95 per load. To them that stuff they're giving away is chump change. If you like Maalt then that's all that matters.
